Dora Bailey Vaught Vinson, 91, of Ravencliff, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday January 10,
2019 at her home. She was born on May 3, 1927 in Jesse, WV a daughter of the late Henry Luther and Laura
Allen Bailey. Dora is a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she
is preceded in death by her first husband Bulin Whitley Vaught; second husband Ezra Vinson; brothers and
sisters-in-law Frankie and Helen Bailey and George and Betty Bailey; nephew Danny Bailey; and an infant
twin brother. Survivors include a daughter Mary Beth (Jamie) Combs of Stephenson; a son Raymond Vaught
of Ravencliff; three grandchildren April Vaught and Ezra and Jessica Combs; best friend who was like a
sister Connie Barnett of Ravencliff; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be

Ray Toler, 89, of Reedy Creek, WV departed his earthly life on Thursday January 10, 2019 at his home. He
opened his eyes in his Heavenly home and was greeted by the one true love of his life, wife Babe, who
preceded him in death in October 2007. Born on July 26, 1929 in Simon, WV to the late Albert and Macie
Toler, he lived at Reedy Creek his entire life. Ray was also preceded in death by brothers Leland and Keith
Toler; son-in-law Elmer Goodman and step granddaughter Megan Goodman. Ray was of the Pentecostal
Faith and was a UMWA member having retired from Island Creek Coal Company after 35 years in coal
mining. On Ray's walls were proudly displayed the many trophy deer taken over the years. He enjoyed
many days of roaming and hunting the WV mountains until failing health prevented his doing what he
loved so well. This kind hearted man was loved by everyone and he will be greatly missed. Survivors
include three children Rayvon Toler (Betty), Rita Toler Goodman and Stacy Toler; three grandchildren
Brian Keith Toler, Heather Morgan (Chris), Tina Kenneda (Darrick); four great grandchildren Megan and
Cameron Morgan, Kyler and Rylee Kenneda; Sister Katherine Hatfield (Roger); and their son Kenny Ray.
Also survived by forever daughter-in-law Della Toler; niece Lana K. Cook; brother-in-law Jackie Morgan
(Bonnie); sisters-in-law Polly Jones and Adelene Adams; and his good friends Jenny Chambers and Frankie

Johnny Bernie Daugherty, 58, of Pineville, WV passed away on Friday January 11, 2019 in Raleigh General
Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on March 2, 1960 in Welch, WV a son of the late Julian "Doc" and
Nyrmal Blankenship Daugherty. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Elvira
Scarbro; two brothers Julian "J.J" Daugherty, Jr. and Jerry "Dirty Dan" Daugherty. Survivors include a son
Johnny Bernie Daugherty, Jr. of Pineville; two sisters Jewel Robin (Jerry) Hatfield of Coal Mountain and
Geraldine Ivy Osborne of Oceana; two brothers Matthew (Candi) Daugherty of Kopperston and Joseph
Daugherty of Logan; a granddaughter Allison Diana Scarbro; special friend and caretaker Crystal Hatfield of

Lester Darrell Green, 54, of Lynco, WV passed away on Sunday January 13, 2019 in CAMC Memorial,
Charleston, WV. He was born on October 18, 1964 in Bim, WV a son of the late Arlene and Violet Gibson
Green McClanahan. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step-father Charles
McClanahan; three brothers Kenneth Green, Sr., Bobby Green and Randall Green; and two sisters Truby

at her home. She was born on September 23, 1940 in Hanover, WV a daughter of the late Ernest Arvil and
Cora Effie Johnston Adams. Janet was a member of the Brenton Baptist Church and the Wyoming County
Genealogical Society. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by sons Floyd Douglas Hatfield,
Billy Wayne Hatfield and Jamie Miller; sisters Josephine Riffe, Juanita Barnett, Beulah Miller and Nylene
Maynard; brothers Orvil, Donnie and Robert Adams; and half brother Richard Bartram. Survivors include her

Barbara "Ann" Santmyer, 89, of Oceana, WV went home to be with the Lord Saturday January 19, 2019 at
her home. She was born on July 18, 1929 in McComas, WV to the late Joel Henderson Repass and Barbara
Ellen Earls. She was the last surviving member of her family, a devoted lifetime member of the Oceana
Church of God and a beautiful Godly example. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. In addition
to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Santmyer; five brothers George (Lucille),
Bill (Evelyn), Cameron (Shirley), Archie (Sue), and Robert (Joann); three sisters Mary (Early Cook), Virginia
(Carl Sizemore) and Clara (Cecil Brown). Survivors include her daughter Linda (Gary) Huffman of Fairdale;
three grandsons Nicholas (Gidget) Huffman of Lincoln County, Adam Huffman (Fiance' Charity Massey of
Oceana and Jordan Huffman of Fairdale; a great grandson Remington Huffman of Lincoln County; she was

Betty Lou Simpson Mitchem, 69, of Fanrock, WV left this earth for her heavenly home on Tuesday January
22, 2019 at Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley, WV surrounded by her family and friends. She has had
declining health since suffering from a major stroke in August of 2018. She was born on June 4, 1949 in
Turkey Creek, WV a daughter of the late Richard and Virginia Long Simpson. She is a 1967 graduate of
Baileysville High School. She and husband Ronnie owned Mitchem's TV and Appliance Repair and
Hardware store in Brenton until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and
her cat. She also loved taking care of her flowers and decorating her home. She had a great sense of humor
and was a very devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew
her. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy and Dennis Simpson; five
sisters Shirley Lusk, Christine Simpson, Barbara Tolliver, Doreen Miller and Connie Davis. Survivors include

Gordon Randall Thomas, 54, of Forest, VA, formally of Pineville, WV, left this earth for his heavenly home
on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 after a sudden illness at work. He was born on July 30, 1964 in Welch,
WV, a son of the late Lee Roy Thomas and Margie Thomas Cook.  He is a 1982 graduate of Baileysville High
School.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Roger Thomas and his Father-in-
Law, Lee Roy Belcher.  Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 21 years Tammy Belcher Thomas;
three daughters – Danielle Larkins of NC, and Kaitlyn and Emilee Thomas of the home; one son – Tee Jaye

would have been employed with Frito Lay for 28 years in April of this year.  He had worked his way up in
the company to District Sales Leader and Safety Subject Matter Expert for the Central VA Zone.  In 2018, he
was Number 1 for the zone’s Herman Lay in the Carolina’s Region.  Before being employed with Frito Lay,
he was known by most as the happy go lucky funny guy at Deskins in Pineville.  He enjoyed spending time
with his family, friends and work family. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, playing in the snow, decorating
for Christmas (his lights were much better than Clark Griswold’s), and taking road trips planned by
Tammy.  He had a great sense of humor and was a very devoted husband and father and will be greatly
missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.   His infectious smile, laughter, devotion, and
dedication are what everyone remembers about Gordon.  Gordon made a positive impact on a lot of lives
including his family, his friends, and his co-workers, leaving behind a legacy that we are very proud of.

of the late Alexander Vance, Sr. and Helen Mitchell Smith. Edward is a attended the Clear Fork Church of
God Assembly and a member of the UMWA. He is a retired coal miner having worked at US Steel Mining
Company in Pineville. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Roger Lee Vance
and Alexander Vance, Jr.; a sister Deloris Faye Roberts.  Survivors include his loving wife Barbara Lester

NC. She was born January 14, 1928 in Roderfield, WV a daughter of the late Thomas and Eva McClure Dillon.
She was of the Apostolic faith. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Leonard Smith, Sr. ; a
son Leonard Jr.; infant daughter Beverly Arden; newborn grandson Jarred Smith; and son-in-law David

Archie Porter, Jr., 66, of Cedar Creek, WV passed away on Thursday February 7, 2019 in
Pikeville Medical Center. He  was born March 10, 1952 in Holden, WV, a son of the late Archie
and Lula Canterbury Porter, Sr.  Archie was a very kind hearted man always ready to help
anyone in need. He loved fishing and hunting, and won the WV Big Buck Award in 1993 for

Oliver.  Betty Jo was a current and dedicated employee of Rite Aid in Oceana for 33 years. She was known

Robert Weldon Brinkley, 83, of Oceana, WV passed away on Friday February 15, 2019 at Harper Mills,

Bobby Edward Harman, 74, of Clear Fork, WV passed away on Friday February 15, 2019 at CAMC Memorial
following a sudden illness. Bob was born on April 11, 1944 in Squire, WV to  Mary Louella Sheets Harman of
Tazewell, VA and the late Keester Harman. Bob was a good student and graduated Big Creek High School in
1962, where he enjoyed all sports. He also encouraged his children to participate in many sports by being a
coach. He joined the US Air Force in 1962. He later worked for Hercules Army Ammunition Plant from
1967-1970, then as a roof bolter for several coal mines for approximately 24 years.  Bob had a great sense
of humor, always wearing a smile. He was a kind, loving husband, father, and papaw. In addition to his
father he is preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Hill; two brothers Ronnie Harman and Scotty Harman; a
sister Ruthie Harman; and sister-in-law Connie Toler. Survivors include his wonderful wife of 24 years
Frieda Toler Harman; a daughter Beth Harman and her two sons Nick and Michael, daughter Dyann Hart
and her two daughters Roslyn and Raven, and daughter April (Eric) Clay and their four children Alexis,

Elmer Tilley, 89, of Lynco, WV Went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 26, 2019 at Raleigh
General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born January 10, 1930 in Clear Fork, WV, a son of the late Thomas
Field and Vida Toler Tilley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Elmer was a UMWA
member and retired after forty-four years of coal mining. In Addition to his parents he was preceded in
death by three brothers Raymond, Earnest and Thomas, Jr.; two sisters Ruth and Ruby; and a son-in-law
Bobby Ray Rhinehart. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 71 years Athelene Vance Tilley; two

Richard Troy "Dickie" Davidson, 76, of Mullens, passed peacefully into Heaven Friday March 8, at the
Bowers Hospice House after a very short battle with cancer. Fondly known by many as Mr. D, Coach or
PawPaw D. He was loved and appreciated by numerous family members, students, and former co-workers
across Wyoming County and beyond for his good nature, desire to help, passion for photography, and most
of all for the love he shared with all he met. He was an active member of Highland Baptist Church for his
entire life where he served as deacon, trustee, former Sunday School Teacher, or any role that needed to
filled. Always passionate about serving the Lord and inviting other to church. Richard was preceded in
death by his parents James and Virginia Dunlap Davidson; his brother J.T. Davidson; his daughter Felicia
Davidson Marcum; and his uncle (who was more like a brother) Jack Dunlap; mother-in-law Edna Francis;
and brother-in-law Freddie Francis. Survived by the love of his life is his devoted and loving wife of 50
years Deborah  Jean Francis Davidson;  son Ryan and Daughter-in-law Rene; son Jeremy and
daughter-in-law Teresa; his precious grandchildren that made him smile, laugh and kept him active
--Logan, Skylar, Keegan, Rome, Milan, and Roger Marcum, Jr.; his father-in-law Roy Francis, and numerous
family members and friends. He cherished spending time with his family at home, on vacations, at the river
camp, ballgames, or any time they were together. Richard was very devoted family man that loved talking
about his grandchildren. One of  his last requests was "please keep this family together - do not fall apart."

parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters Geneva Blankenship and Donna Cosetino; and three
brothers Herman, Burley, and June Morgan. Survivors include her husband of 42 years James H. Keene.

Melanie Gaye “Goodee” Boothe, 33 of Cyclone, WV passed away Wednesday March 20th 2019 at CAMC
General Division from injuries sustained in a car accident, Melanie was a 2003 graduate of Westside High
School, she played softball known as the “beast” hind catcher, she also played basketball. She was the
daughter of Willie & Rhonda Boothe. She has three beautiful children Natalie, Kara, and Kaiden that she
loved dearly. A sister Savannah and her husband CJ, two nephews Garrett and Bryson, two nieces Addison,
and Cheyenne and a special little girl Sophie who she thought the world of others left to cherish her
memories are Kee-Kee & Jenn-Jenn, Michael & Lisa, Gene & Patricia, Regina “Sissy” & Richard, Dewanna
Bailey, Lonnie “Hobb” & Margie, Scotty & Delinda, Gary, Donna and her grandmother Vaunda. Cousins,
Cheltsie, Greg, Keegan & Ali, Josh & Kaitlin, Kendra, Cody & Tucker, Lindsay, Derek, Corey, Molly, Nathan,
Caleb, Lavaunda & Coby, Henry “Hank” & Crystal, Sarah, Samuel, Ronnie, Kathy, John, David and a host of
other family & friends. She was proceeded in death by her brother Lawrence Lee “Bubby”, her grandparents
Lawrence & Gaye Workman, and Rev. Joe Boothe, an uncle Ronnie, three cousins Delana, Renea, Aliyah and
a special family member Dale Boy. She enjoyed the outdoors camping with her family, hunting, fishing,
riding 4-wheelers with her kids and her dog Girl, and especially berry picking with her sister Savannah. She
will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She had a heart of Gold and would do anything for
anybody. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Sunday March 24th at the Cyclone Church of God, Cyclone,
WV, with Rev. Scotty Lusk, Bro. Joey Webb and Bro. Darrell Bailey officiating. She will be laid to rest in
Brown's Cemetery, Cyclone, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 6-9PM on Saturday March 23rd

Charles Dale Robinson, 81, of Brenton, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday March 21, 2019 in
Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on November 19, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH a son of the
late Charles D. and Mary Elizabeth Belle Robinson. Charles attended the Mill Creek Freewill Baptist Church
and was the owner of Pizza Mingo. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Lou
Ann Robinson; a son Mark Robinson; brother James Robinson; and his first wife Margaret Brown
Robinson.   Survivors include his loving wife of almost 5 years Serena G. Blankenship Robinson; four
daughters Sherry (Tim) Stratton of Gilbert, Beth Ann Robinson, Ashley L. Robinson and Tara Kodak all of
Brenton; a son Justin (Ashlee) Browning of Matheny; a sister Judi Pottee of Arizona; mother-in-law Emma
Jean Blankenship of Brenton; seven grandchildren Mark David Robinson, Keri Ann (Terry) Williams, Sara
Stratton, Luke Spencer, Sydney Kodak, Aiden Browning and Jagger Browning; four great grandchildren
Kason Lee Williams, Daxton Lee Williams, Saydee Lee Grace Williams, Braylon Charles Morgan;
daughter-in-law Debbie (Turk) Bailey of Pineville and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral

Agnes Marie Lawson Gunter, 69, of Pineville, WV passed away on Friday March 22, 2019 at her home. She
was born on September 16, 1949 in Tazewell, VA the daughter of the late William Harvey and Elizabeth
Baldwin Lawson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Gunter, Jr.;
daughter Rachel Brown; granddaughter Zoey Graham; great granddaughter Nevaeh Mircale McMillion; and
grandson J.R. Brown, Jr. Survivors include four daughters Anita Graham (Duke McClanahan) of Pineville,
Wendy Cook of Oceana, Tonya Acord (Delmas Toler) of Oceana and Jennifer (Carlos) Pitno of Kopperston;
three sons Robert Edward Graham and Robert Dale Graham, Jr. both of Pineville and Joshua Graham of
Welch; a sister Darlene Redding of FL; five brothers Johnny Lawson, William Lawson and Alfred Lawson all
of Pineville, Kenneth Baldwin and Tommy Baldwin both of Tazewell, VA; sixteen grandchildren Elizabeth
Cook, Ricky McMillion, Jr., Lorie Brown, Rose Graham, David Cook, Latasha Acord, Dakota Acord, Johnny
Acord, Morgan Graham, Ethan Graham, Collin Graham, Dannielle Graham, Bella Patino, Austin Lusk, Collin
Graham and Ethan Graham; her former husband and loving father of 27 years Robert Graham;  and a host
