Arnold Dewey "Mutt" Griffith, 92, of Oceana, WV passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19,
2017 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. He was born on November 3, 1925 in Oceana, WV a son
of the late Algie Griffith and Delphia Chambers.  Arnold attended Family Praise and Worship Center
in Oceana. He was a member of the United States Army and served in the Korean War and World War
II. He was a coal miner for 30 plus years, finishing his service with EACC at Kopperston #2. He was a
electrician and a mine foreman. He was a member of Local Union 7604. In his earlier years, he
enjoyed fishing, bowling, and pitching horseshoes. He was inducted into the WV Horseshoe Pitchers
Association Hall of Fame in 1990. He enjoyed walking thru town, mowing grass, and playing games
with his children and grandchildren.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant
sister Mamie Ruth; a son Arnold David; and an infant granddaughter Julie Kristine Gibson. He is
survived by his loving wife of 70 years Edna, who loved babying him; a daughter Debra (Jimmy)
Gibson of Oceana; two sons Steve (Margetta) Griffith of Lancaster, TX and Jimmy (Shelia) Griffith of
Charleston; six grandsons David Wayne (Ann) Griffith of Ft. Worth, TX, James Scott Gibson of
Leland, NC, Cory Shane (Catherine) Griffith of TX, Sean Christopher Griffith of TX, Jeremy Alan
Griffith of Charleston and Joshua Aaron Griffith of Charleston; three granddaughters Shelley Marie
(David) Zacek of Leland, NC, Amy Leigh (David) Price of Kopperston and Sara Nicole (Jared) Harless
of Oceana; five great grandsons David Michael Zacek of Leland, NC, PFC Nicholas Scott Zacek who is
stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Benjamin Hunter Price of Kopperston, Isaac Blake Price of Kopperston
and Cory Shane "CJ" Griffith, Jr. of TX; two great granddaughters Chloe Elizabeth Harless of Oceana
and Jenna Faith Harless of Oceana; a sister Florene Sloan of OH; his cat Gracie; and a host of other
loving family and friend.  Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday November 22, 2017 at
the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church, Oceana, WV with Pastor Timmy Brewster and Bro. Johnny
Maynard officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may

It is with deep sadness that we share with you the passing of our dear Edna Mae Jane Caldwell Dillon  
on November 22, 2017, and we are joyful for what awaits her in heaven as she joins her husband,
Harold Dillon, her son Samuel Dillon, her brother Harmon Caldwell, her grandson Jason Dillon, her son
– in – law Eddie Bostic and many other loved ones.  Edna was born in McCoy, VA on April 3, 1924 to
Courtney Caldwell and Lucy Albert Caldwell.  She lost her mother at a very tender young age, but the
love of her very special Aunt Lena molded her into an unselfish Christian full of unconditional love for
others.  Edna and Harold made their home in Kopperston where they made growing up fun and
carefree and where she continued to reside with her daughter Susan.  Edna was a marvelous
homemaker who could make old things look new, simple food taste wonderful and win the love of
every child she met.  She was a member of the Delilah Methodist Church where she was a beloved
Sunday School teacher for many years and a choir and women’s group member.  Edna leaves behind the
broken hearts of sisters Hazel Hale and Elizabeth Hale both of Blacksburg, VA, a son Harold Dillon and
wife Kathy of Gautier, MS, daughters Sandra Bostic of Apex, NC, and Susan Lusk and husband Leon of
Kopperston, WV.  Sandra and Susan have provided her care together for many years.  Survivors also
include eight grandchildren, Julie Hussey and husband Don of Apex, NC, Aimee Page and husband
David of Holly Springs, NC, Stephanie Duncan and husband Casey of Calera, AL, Brian Dillon and wife

Hospice House in Beckley, WV and we will be forever grateful for the care she was given, and the

Stephen Shawn Beverly, 49, of Brenton, WV went to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 23,
2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 4, 1968 in Welch, WV a son of Steve
Beverly of Baileysville and Claudine Cook Smith of Wyoming. He was an avid car enthusiast and
enjoyed building classic cars, hot rods and with his Dad Steve, his Papaw Lindal, and his friend, Stevie
Lambert. Tim Spent building a rat rod with his wife was a special memory for both of them. Shawn was
a talented musician and was a member of the bands Gunshi, Carter Slade and most recent Beverly
Brothers. He entertained all with his guitar licks and raspy voice. His music influences were Stevie Ray
Vaughn, Blackberry Smoke, Allman Brothers and in his younger years Andy Wallen. He loved southern
rock and outlaw country. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Wanda and Lindal
Beverly; maternal grandparents Robert and Mary "Shorty" Cook; brothers Chris Beverly and Greggie
Smith; step mom Debbee Beverly; an aunt Terri Cook; and a niece Jordan Smith. In addition to his
parents those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 23 years Marty who has been with him
since the age of 17; step father Greg Smith of Wyoming; sisters Mieke (Derek) Reavis of Stuart, VA,
Emmy Smith of Westfield and NC Katie Goins of Pinnacle, NC; Nieces Jolie Smith, Charlei Smith and

home. He was born on May 28, 1946 in Mallory, WV the son of the late Forest Clay and Nona Miller. In
addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna Lou Copley Clay; a brother
Cletis Clay, Sr.; a sister Lou Vinsion; and a granddaughter Leanna Paige Paynter. Survivors include his

born on July 26,1953 in Logan County, WV a son of the late Troy and Dorothy Frye Carter. Seaburn is a

Ruth Elizabeth Cole, 79, of Brier Creek, WV went home to be with the lord on Tuesday December 13th 2017
at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital due to a long illness. She was born October 10th, 1938 in
Baileysville, WV a daughter of the late William B. Hodges and Beulah Lusk Hodges. Ruth started her
teaching career at the early age of 17 and enjoyed teaching at Baileysville Elementary School for 32 years.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 49 years Clarence W. Cole of Brier Creek, sister Faye

following a short illness. He was born on July 17, 1949 in Oceana, WV a son of the late Howard Lacy and
Josephine Beavers Dixon. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Anthony James Dixon;
and two brothers Howard "Fillmore" Dixon and Charles Dudney Dixon. Survivors include his loving wife

Wyoming Continuous Care, New Richmond, WV. She was born on August 23, 1935 in Jesse, WV a daughter
of the late Bud and Felia Beringer Allen. She was a member of the Truth Assembly at Glen Fork. She loved
her children and grandbabies very much. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband

born on January 20, 1962 in Pikeville, KY, a son of Gerald and Faye Alfrey Short of Oceana. Micah is a
member of the I Heart Church and a graduate of Oceana High School. He is preceded in death by his
grandparents Bernie and Ethel Short and Narie and Virgil Alfrey. Micha worked many years for the
Wyoming County Board of Education as a teacher and coach. From 1994 to 2002 he was the Head Football
Coach for Oceana High School. In addition to his parents he is survived by his loving wife Michelle

Bluefield Medical Center, Bluefield, WV following a long illness. He was born on September 21, 1940 in
Cyclone, WV a son of the late Dixie Nutter and Harding Toler. He was a member of the Toler Baptist Church
and was a resident of McDowell Nursing and Rehab for a short time. In addition to his parents he is
preceded in death by a brother Russell Nutter; and grandparents John and Anna Laura Elkins. Survivors
include three sisters Nancy Gibson of Cyclone, Wanda (Jerry) Cobb of Davin and Dorothy Brooks of

Georgina "Gina" Ferrari Maynard, 83, of Lynco, WV passed away on Saturday January 6, 2018 at her home.
She was born on October 3, 1934 in Gnunden, Austria a daughter of the late Josef and Theresa Ohlinger
Ferrari. Georgina attended the Oceana Church of God. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death
by her husband James H. "Sarge" Maynard; a son Jimmy Maynard; a grandson Chad Maynard; a sister
Sonja Kropfreither; special niece Claudia; and two daughters-in-law  Tammy Maynard and Regina Maynard.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons Johnny Maynard of Fayetteville, Donald (Charlene)
Maynard of Oceana; a daughter Tina (Bill) Redden of Oceana; three grandsons John Maynard, Jr., James
Maynard III and Adam (Jennifer) Redden; five granddaughters Misty Willard, Danelle  (Chris) Perez,
Christy (Aaron) Plumley, Ashley (Shawn) Clark, and Shannon Redden; four great granddaughters Allyson
and Grayson Plumley, Tammy Maynard and Ava Redden; one great grandson Kody Blackburn; a sister
Christal (Kurt) Hausmair of Austria; brother-in-law Ronald Lee (Merle) Maynard; a sister-in-law Annie
Gibson; a brother-in-law Kurt and Crystal Housmeir; three nephews Robert Ferrari, Thomas Hausmair and
Berti  Kropfreither; a niece Andrea (Lee) Bennett of Berlin, Germany; a great nephew Jack Bennett;  Shirley
Savage of Denver, PA; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00

Randy Bowles and Rev. Randall Topping officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens,

Jimmy Darrell Toler, 70, of Clear Fork, WV passed away on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at Raleigh General
Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on July 13, 1947 in Oceana, WV a son of the late Prather Lee and Billie
Dove Wright Toler. Jimmy is a disabled United States Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a proud disabled
coalminer and a UMWA member. He proudly volunteered with the DAV and the Veterans Honor Guard. He
felt it important to honor our veterans. He is a 1966 graduate of Oceana High School.  Jimmy loved to ride
his Harley and his Mustang. He said his back may be broke but he felt free on a ride. Jimmy lost his high
school sweetheart and wife of 28 years Betty Ann Keeney Toler August 2, 2013 and he is also preceded in
death by his parents. Jimmy was a kind hearted man who loved his family and friends. He especially loved
his children Allen Toler of Beckley, Mark Toler  of Fredericksburg, VA, Renae (Greg) Pennington of Clear
Fork and Jenny (James) Belcher of Clear Fork; a special place in his heart were the grandbabies Victoria, D.
J., Brian, Seth, Steven and Tara; his great grandbabies Ethan, Madison, Kendra, Ian, Bennett and Jaylen;
four brothers Roger Toler of Blountstown, FL, Russell Toler of Chapmanville, Jeff (Romaine) Toler of
Cyclone and Phillip (Mari) Toler of Manteo, NC and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday January 14, 2018 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV with Rev. Johnny Toler officiating. He will be laid to rest in Cook – Keeney Cemetery, Cyclone,

Raymond Dean Frazier, 67, of Glen Fork, WV passed away on Thursday January 4, 2018 at Raleigh General
Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on March 17, 1950 a son of the late Raymond Jenkins and Stella Ann
Irick Frazier. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers Donald, Gerald and Robert
Frazier; and a sister Linda Wright. Survivors include his loving wife Debra Randolph Frazier; a daughter
Twyla Lee Lewis; a brother Gary Frazier; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will
be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday January 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV

Judy Lynn Shelton, 48, of Green Camp, WV passed away on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at her home. She
was born on April 5, 1969 a daughter of the Hebera Curry of Pineville and the late Donzal Loral Curry, Sr.
Judy attended the Pineville Church of God. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her
husband Douglas "Junebug" Shelton, Jr.; and her twin sister Julie Ann Curry. In addition to her mother
survivors include a son Douglas Shelton of Green Camp; a brother Donny (Nicole) Curry of Green Camp;
four nieces Alexis Curry, Diedre Stouts, Tanya Stangler and Tara Wilson; a nephew Jacob Curry; two great
nieces; two great nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at
1:00 PM on Monday January 15, 2018 at the Pineville Church of God, Pineville, WV with Pastor Norman
Gray officiating. She will be laid to rest in Johnston Cemetery, Shannon Mill Creek, WV. Friends may gather
with the family from 11:00 AM until time of services on Monday January 15, 2018 at the church. Pallbearers

Doris Lea Adams Cline, 86, of Pineville, WV passed away on Friday January 12, 2018 at Wyoming
Continuous Care, New Richmond, WV. She was born on November 1, 1931 in Bartley, WV a daughter of the
late Hubert and Nellie Catherine Stewart Adams, Sr. Doris is a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church. In
addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Arvil Glen Cline; a brother Hubert Adams,
Jr.; and a sister Freda Lester. Survivors include three sisters Ruby Lester of Brenton, Louise Lester of Biloxi,
MS and Katherine Jessie of Brenton; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
