David Allen Burgess, 60, of Oceana, WV passed away on Friday January 22, 2021 at his home. He was
born on December 5, 1960 in Richmond, VA a son of the late Robert Allen and Rosalee Blankenship
Burgess. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Roger Burgess and Wayne
Blankenship. Survivors include two sisters Lora Fisher of Concord, NC and Lisa Burgess of China
Grove, NC; and a host of other loving family and friends. He will be cremated and a memorial service
will be held at a later date. The family is being served by Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
Mary Jane Cline Ellison, 77, of New Richmond, WV formerly of Pineville went home to be with the
Lord on Sunday January 24, 2021 at Wyoming Nursing and Rehab, New Richmond, WV. She was born
on July 16, 1943 in Beeson, WV a daughter of the late Howard Lacy "John" and Josephine Beavers
Dixon. Mary attended the Turkey Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in
death by her two husbands Roger B. Cline and Frank Ellison; a son Jeffery Allen Cline; a sister three
brothers Dudney Dixon, Howard "Fillmore" Dixon and Ballard Dixon, Sr.; and two sister-in-laws Pat
Dixon and Nancy Dixon. Survivors include a son Timothy "Tim" Cline of Lynco; two grandchildren
Taylor Cline and Tashawna Bailey; two great grandchildren Bentley, Cline, Aliyah Lester and Grayson
Bailey; a sister Judy (Sam) Francis of Glen Fork; and a host of other loving family and friends. In
keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The

Darrell Arthur Cochran, 77, of Sunhill, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday January 18, 2021
at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, WV. He was born on April 4, 1943 in Sundial, WV a son of the late
Cecil Cochran and Dorothy East Cochran Hoover. Darrell attended the Sunhill Country Church. In
addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Bryant Wesley Cochran, a brother Belford
Cochran, a sister Jean Cole, and a brother in law Alford Harvey. He leaves behind his loving wife of 35
years Edra Gay Harvey Cochran; a daughter Donna Davis of FL; a son Dean Cochran and wife Carolyn of
Floyd County, VA; three grandchildren Samantha, Chase and Jacob of Floyd County, VA; brother-in-law
Steven Harvey and wife Sherry and their children Tori and Ali; brother-in-law Billy Harvey and wife Bea
and their children Shane, and Annie; sister-in-law Donna Jackson and husband Gerald and their
daughter Payten, all of Clear Fork; sister-in-law Mary Harvey and her son Adam and wife Monica, and
their children Wynter and Summer, her daughter Misty and husband John Maynor and their daughter
Bella all of Clear Fork; and a host of other loving family and friends. Pallbearers will be family and

Joseph Clark "Joe" Walker, 45, of Oceana, WV  passed away on Monday January 25, 2021 at Ruby
Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born on August 26, 1975 in Beckley, WV, a son of
Helen Irene Dorsey Walker of Beckley and the late James Michael Walker, Sr.; In addition to his
father he is preceded in death by three brothers Jonthon Miller, James Michael "Jimmy" Walker, Jr.
and Jerrold Allen "Jerry" Walker; and his grandfather James White Walker. In addition to his
mother survivors include a sister Joyce Lynn Miller of Lewisburg; two brothers Daniel Shawn Walker
of Beckley and Justin Curtis Miller of Roncevert; his fiancé' Janey Brown of Oceana; and a host of
other loving family and friends. In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated and a memorial

Patricia "Diana" Walker Stewart, 75, of Oceana, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday January
27, 2021 at her home. She was born on January 19, 1946 in Nyota, AL a daughter of the late Ernest
Grover and Nellie Maude Johnson Walker. Diana is a member of the Matheny United Methodist Church
and Women's Fellowship. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her
parents she is preceded in death by her late husband of 52 years Billy "Jack" Stewart; a grandson
Timothy Meadows of Matheny; three brothers Junior, Phillip and Colen Walker; three sisters Collette
Philyaw, Annette Linkous and Ruby Sheridan; and son-in-law Dennis Meadows. Those left to cherish her
memory are her three daughters Denise Meadows of Matheny, Regina Redden of Oceana and Rhonda
(Chuck) Miller of Oceana; six granddaughters  Tabitha (Tomas) Torgersen of Kristiansand, Norway,
Amber (John) Marshall of Hampton, PA, Sami "JoJo" Redden of Buffalo Creek, Heather (Ben) Morgan
of Keyrock, Ginger (Chris) Walls of Oceana and Mady  Redden of Oceana; two grandsons Steve Redden
of VA, and Joshua (Brittany) Miller of Oceana; eighteen great grandchildren; and a host of other loving
family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday January 31st in the Chapel of Stafford
Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Ron Acord and Pastor Daniel Lowther officiating. Friends

James Frost, 66, of New Richmond, WV  passed away on Wednesday January 27, 2021 at Cornerstone
Specialty Hospital in Huntington, WV. He was born on November 15, 1954 in Welch, WV, a son of the
late William David Frost Sr. and Pansy Thomas Frost Snow. He spent time in the Air Force and worked
at Lockheed in Texas. He Enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends, and spending time
with animals. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Brimm and step-son
Isaac Vance. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 20 years, Ersie Goode Frost and his
Maltese, Baby Nina, she was his world and he loved her dearly; two daughters, Amanda (Gary) Houff
and Lora Frost of Texas; two sons. Charlie (Brittany) Frost of Texas and Eric (LeAnn) Frost of Virginia;
step-son, Cub Vance of West Virginia; three brothers, David (Phyllis) Frost, Wesley Frost, and Sammy
(Claudia) Frost; two sisters, Vickie (Roger) Carroll and Diana (David) Scott; eleven grandchildren;
special loved ones, Eddie Vance, Beulah Goode, Beth Ford, and Jack Clay; and a host of other loving
family and friends. Funeral service will be held 12:00 on Saturday, January 30th at Sweet Home
Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Justin Farley and Rev. Earl Brewer will be officiating. Friends may join

Joseph Edward Stewart, 63, of Matheny, WV  passed away on Thursday January 28, 2021 at his
home. He was born on June 9, 1957 in Mullens, WV, a son of the late Daniel R. Stewart and Billie J.
O'Brien Stewart. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. Joe loved the outdoors, especially
fishing and hunting. He enjoyed reading books, particularly American history. He also liked to write
in his spare time. He was a proud babysitter to his grandson and best buddy, Kaysen, who he
affectionately nicknamed "Button". In addition to his father  he is preceded in death by his two
brothers, Chester M. Stewart and Larry D. Stewart. Those left to cherish his memory include his
mother, Billie J. O'Brien Stewart; two daughters, Joetta (Travis) Elkins of Ashford, WV and Cheyenne
C. Stewart and fiancé David Powers of Marianna, WV; a son Zachary R. (Noah) Cruz-Bustillio of
Charleston, WV; two grandchildren, "Baby Grace" Elkins and Kaysen "Button" Powers; and a host of
other loving family and friends. In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated. A private memorial

Marion "Tony" Cline, 75, of Clear Fork, WV  passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Raleigh
General Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1945 in Baileysville, WV, a son of the late Keith Harold and
Nita Maude Conley Cline. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his
parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Cline and Roger Cline; mother and father in
law, Vern and Mary Short; and niece Meagen Goodman. Those left to cherish his memory include his
loving wife, Carolyn Sue Short Cline; son, Shane Cline of Clear Fork, WV; two sister in laws, Judy Cline
of Pineville and Wilma Cline of Lynco; brother in law, Charles (Gail Pritt) Short of Oceana; nieces and
nephews, Brandy Cline, Steve Cline, Jennifer Goodman, Beckey Castle, Brad Short, Kathy Short, Alicia

Danny Wayne Blankenship, 63, of Kopperston, WV  passed away on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at his
home following a short illness. He was born on September 5, 1957 in Wyoming County, WV a son of the
late Hazel and Edwin Blankenship. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers
Franklin, Clifford David and Michael Blankenship; infant sister Deborah Ann Blankenship; and a
brother-in-law Andrew Lester. Those left to cherish his memory are his son Dennis DeWayne
Blankenship of Frankfort, KY; three grandsons Dustin Blankenship, Trevor Brown and Damon
Blankenship all of Frankfort, KY; a brother Leroy Blankenship and wife Sarah of Clear Fork; a sister
Edwinna Lester of Hanover; a nephew Clifford Blankenship; three nieces Kelly Lester of Indian Creek,
Kayla Dunford of Clear Fork and Andrea Browning of Verner; and a host of great nieces, nephews and

Claudia Lee Pekarek (Nee Wagner). Born April 1, 1952, called to Heaven February 3, 2021. She was
born in Cleveland, Oh and lived there until moving to West Virginia thirteen years ago with her
partner Ricky Broyles. She is preceded in death by her partner Ricky Broyles, Sr.; grandson Joshua
Morehouse; and her parents Donn J. and Norma I Dietz Wagner. Throughout her life she enjoyed
gardening, sewing, crafts, art, baking and cooking. She loved to feed her family and friends. Claudia
was a kind, caring and generous lady who had an awesome sense of humor right to the end. Her heart
was as big as the world, she had a personality to match. She is survived by her children James Wagner,
wife Sherrie of Brenton, WV, Lisa Morehouse of Warren, OH and Stephen Pekarek, wife Janelle of
Randolph, OH; her brother Wayne Wagner of Maben, WV; sister Karen (Sunni) Fain (Jimmy) of
Oakwood Village, OH; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her good friend Michael
Pekarek; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 4 pm on
Saturday February 6th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Ricky
Proffitt officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 2 pm until time of service on Saturday at

Patricia Gail Dillon, 64, of Oceana, WV  passed away on Thursday February 4, 2021 in Raleigh
General Hospital, Beckley, WV. She was born on April 2, 1956 in Martinsville, VA a daughter of
the late Leo Dale, Sr. and Nancy Womack Dillion. In addition to her parents she is preceded in
death by a brother Leo Dale Dillon, Jr. Survivors include her companion of 15 years Michael
Holland; a daughter Annette; and a host of other loving family and friends. Burial will be held
at 12 pm on Monday February 8th at the Glen Fork Community Cemetery, Glen Fork, WV.

Kenneth Jacob Stafford, 90, of Kopperston, WV  passed away on Friday February 5, 2021 at the home
of his daughter in Oceana. He was born on March 25, 1930 in Glen Morrison, WV now known as Sabine,
WV. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. William L. Stafford and Eliza Blake Hatcher Stafford;
his loving wife of 56 years Erma Lillian Arthur Stafford; a son Randall "Randy" Stafford; deceased
grandchildren Jonathan Tilley, Anthony Tilley and Crystal Sparks Hall; siblings William, Raymond,
Joseph, Thomas, Dennis, Dreama, and an infant sister Iris Ann. Dad was a member of Toneda
Missionary Baptist Church for 50 plus years and served as a deacon, on the Advisory Board, Senior BYF
youth leader, Chairman of the Missions Committee, an usher and a greeter. Kenneth was a US Marine
Veteran, worked at the Ford plant in Detroit, MI, was a coal miner for 40 plus years for Eastern
Associated Coal Corporation's Kopperston #2 mine, a member of UMWA Local 7604, Chaplin of the
Burial Committee, the Mine Saftey committee and umpired youth Baseball games. He loved camping,
fishing, hunting, family get togethers and reunions. He was a good neighbor and friend to many, but
mostly he was a good Christian man that walked the talk and was happy to share his love of what the
Lord had done for him. Enjoy your rewards in Heaven Dad! We were so fortunate to call you daddy and
will see you again. Kenneth is survived by his daughters Lillian (Bill) Tilley of Eccles, Marsha (Tom)
Sparks of Oceana and Sandra (Mitch) Solacz of Prosperity; a brother Rev. James (Ann) Stafford of
Canton, Ohio; a daughter in law Sue Stafford of Oceana; his uncle Jake Hatcher of Princeton; ten
grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; several nieces,
nephews and many friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at
Toneda Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Scotty Lusk officiating. He will be laid to rest in Blue
Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV. The Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct
Military Rites. Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday from Noon until service time at the

Scott Emsley Rollins, 44, of Oceana, WV passed away on February 9, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House,
Beckley, WV following a short illness with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on May 20, 1976 in Beckley,
WV a son of Steve Emsley Rollins of Oceana and the late Genette Rollins. Scott loved making people
laugh, going to Tennessee on vacation and spending time with his family. He is a graduate of Oceana
High School. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his grandparents James and Virginia
Rollins. In addition to his father survivors include two sisters Emiley Rollins and fiancé Jeff Curry of
Huntington and Adrianna Lester and husband Cody of Oceana; a niece Olivia Lester; two nephews Noah
Curry and Brayden Lester; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with his wishes he

Ruth Ann Bledsoe Estep, 72, of Justice, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2021 at Hubbard
Hospice House, Charleston, WV.  She was born on February 8, 1948 in Simon, WV a daughter of the late
Mason and Ilene Blankenship Kennedy. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first
husband Kenneth Bledsoe; two daughters Julia Annetta Bledsoe and Eva Lynn Hunt; a son Steven Jarrell
Bledsoe; and a brother Danny Kennedy. Survivors include her loving husband of seventeen years Terry
Eugene Estep; four sons Kevin (Melissa) Bledsoe of Lynco, Kenneth (Misty) Bledsoe of Brenton, Jason
(Chasity) Bledsoe of Coal Mountain and Travis (Whitney) Barbour of Hanover; a daughter Nancy (Darrell)
Barbour of Hanover; a step daughter Bridget Miller of Flatwoods; twenty-two grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren; three sisters Ernestine (John) Ward of Simon, Peggy (Troy) Morgan of Simon and Lucy
(Everett) Cochran of Lynco; three brothers Bobby (Becky) Kennedy of Lynco, June (Ann) Kennedy of Simon

Alma Edna Rollins Vint, 57, of Lynco, WV passed away on February 10, 2021 at Logan Regional Medical
Center, Logan, WV. She was born on November 23, 1963 a daughter of Dolly Florence Massey and
Samuel Rollins, Jr. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Carl Edward Vint;
and a sister Hazel Lou Rollins.  Survivors include two sisters Martha Dianne (Dewayne) Vipperman of
Oceana and Peggy Jane Hatfield of Coal Mountain; a brother Bobby Lee (Susan) Rollins of Oceana;
nephews Kevin (Christine) Rollins, Cory (Bree) Rollins and Charles Wilson Cline, Jr.; nieces Terra (Chris)
Blackburn, Karen Hatfield and Susie Hatfield; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping

Mandy Michelle Morgan-Aliff, 44, of Mullensville, WV passed away on February 8, 2021 at her home. She
was born on July 29, 1976 a daughter of Marvin Morgan and the late Evelyn Irene Addison Morgan. In
addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her husband Edward Lee "Eddie" Aliff. In addition to
her father those left to cherish her memory include her two sons Jeremiah and Isaiah Aliff of Brenton; a
sister Melanie (Anthony) Riffe of Brenton; a brother Michael (Jennifer) Morgan of Verner; her
companion Maebelle Owens of Brenton;  and a host of other loving family and friends. A celebration of

Mary Jo Blankenship, 83, of Cyclone, WV formerly of Largo, FL passed away on February 2, 2021 in Logan
Regional Medical Center due to complications from COVID. She was born on September 12, 1937 in
Charleston, WV a daughter of the late Jack and Marie Verner Moore. In addition to her parents she is
preceded in death  by her husband Stacey Lee Blankenship; a brother Harry Moore; two granddaughters
Erin Mikal Cobb and Christina Hope Blankenship; and a special friend George Knight. Survivors include
her children Anita Cobb of FL, Craig (Susan) Blankenship of VA and Darren (Amanda) Blankenship of
Cyclone, WV; special pet Lexi; two sisters Delores Gibson and Carolyn Watts; eight grandchildren; nine
great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with her wishes she will be

Patrick Edward O'Brien, 70, of Odd, WV passed away on February 10, 2021 at his home. He was born on
August 28, 1950 in White Sulphur Springs, WV a son of Betty Jane Webster Ellison of Radford, VA and
the late Clarence Edward O'Brien. Patrick is a United States Marine Corp. Veteran and a member of the
Paralyzed Veterans of America. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a brother Timothy
Dale O'Brien; and a sister Terri O'Brien. In addition to his mother survivors include his loving wife Linda
Gail Tilley O'Brien; a son Jason Patrick (Julie) O'Brien of SC; a step son Joshua Dimitri (Patricia)
Sinecoff of McGraws; a sister Linda (Paul) Jones of Troutsville, VA; nine grandchildren Logan Andrew

Charlotte A. Stafford, 95, of Bradley, WV passed away on February 9, 2021 at her home. Born on January
9, 1926 in Matheny, WV a daughter of the late Austin Rice and Della Mae Stewart. Charlotte is the last
surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her
loving husband Carl W. Stafford, Sr.; a son Carl W. Stafford, II; a daughter Arbutus Stafford Johnson;
and two grandsons Phillip R. "P. J." Stafford, Jr. and Isaac Johnson. Survivors include a daughter Filista
Mae Stafford Cline of Mesa Lake, IL; two sons Phillip R. Stafford of Eccles and Dale Stafford of Bradley;
six grandchildren Carl W. Stafford, III, Elizabeth Stafford Frame, Kimberly Johnson Peterson, Charlotte
Johnson Bright, Della Stafford, Angie Chambers, Mark Burgess and Brandon Stafford; ten great

Rev. Dewayne Henry Hurd, 74, of Ravencliff, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 15,
2021 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. He was born on August 11, 1946 in Bath, NY a son of the late
Leon Palmer and Florence Hillyard Hurd. Dewayne preached for 41 years and was Pastor of three churches
over the years. He is a United States Marine Corp. Veteran. He loved his family. He loved to play golf and
work in his garage. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Burdette and Frank
Hurd. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Doris Jude Hurd; two sons Eric (Amber)

Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, WV surrounded by her husband and family. She was born on September 16,
1961in Man, WV a daughter of the late Sebert and Drema Osborne Lusk. Lesha's life revolved around family
and friends. Her hobbies were fishing and mowing grass on er John Deere. In addition to her parents she is

Lewis and Addie Paynter Riffe. Jeff attended the Grace Chapel Church and was assistant pastor for over 10

April Dawn Stacy, 41, of Stephenson, WV passed away on February 19, 2021 at her home. She was born on
June 4, 1979 in Beckley, WV a daughter of the late James Stacy and Debbie Runyon. In addition to her
parents she is preceded in death by a brother James "Bubby" Stacy; and a sister Lisa Hildbran. Survivors
include two daughters Kayla Stacy and Hailey Stacy both of Corrine; a sister Tanya (Daniel) Blankenship of
Corrine; four grandchildren Annabell, Corbin, Brandon and Braeleigh; and a host of other loving family and

India Gertrude Whisenant, 81, of Lilly Haven, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2021,
at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, W.Va., following a lengthy illness. Her loving son was by her
side at the time of her passing, and other loved ones joined them remotely by phone because of COVID-19-
related restrictions. Born on August 15, 1939, to the Reverend Elva Brown and Delphia Bailey Brown of Lorado,
W.Va., in Logan County, she grew up in Kopperston, W.Va. After graduating from Oceana High School in 1957,
she married the love of her life, Benny Joe Whisenant, in 1958. Gertrude gave birth to their son, Michael David
Whisenant, in 1962. A treasured wife, mother, and grandmother, she devoted her life to caring for her family,
which was the accomplishment in her life of which she was proudest. Her favorite pastimes included going to
church, reading the Bible, and watching Charles Stanley’s sermons on television. She was a standing member of
Bright Prospect Baptist Church and Lilly Haven Baptist Church. She also often attended Pineville Southern
Baptist Church with her brother Horace and his wife Barbara, experiences of which she had fond memories. She
loved spending time with her family, and she was blessed to be able to enjoy 25 years of retirement with her
beloved husband, from 1989 until his death in 2015. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, and she
loved regaling them with tales from her childhood, especially her youthful adventures with her brother Horace.
She also loved being involved in her community, and she looked forward to every opportunity to talk to people
she ran into on trips to the Oceana Post Office and Goodson’s Supermarket, many of whom will fondly
remember her as a caring and spirited friend. While she never got over the loss of her beloved husband, she
was comforted in her final years by time spent talking with her neighbor and special friend, Helen Hamrick
Cook. She also took solace in her devout Faith in Jesus Christ. In her final days she often said, “I served the
Good Master above, and He will take care of me.” Her final words uttered on Earth were “Let’s go Home.” In
addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by eight siblings: Shelby, Norman, Horace,
Fannie, Lacy, Gracie, Roy, and Troy Brown. She is survived by her loving son, Michael David Whisenant, and his
wife Darva Geneva of Crab Orchard, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Caleb Brewster Whisenant of Crab Orchard, W.
Va., and Kelsey Dawn Whisenant of Beckley, W.Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be

Jerry Lee Fralin, 44, of Coal City, WV On February 23, 2021 a precious soul crossed over from this life to the
next by succumbing to heart disease. Jerry was of the Baptist faith and a 1995 graduate of Mullens High
School. He was a loving husband and father who most enjoyed spending time with his family. Special times
with Lorenzo, Quency, Eli and Noah playing PS4 and catching the NBA or NFL while cooking out on the grill
will be cherished. He was most recently employed at Cricket Wireless in Beckley. He is preceded in death by
his mother, Lorenza Kyle Green; his grandparents / adoptive parents Robert "Bob-O" Fralin, Sr. and Virginia

Robert William Lusk, 69, of Brenton, WV passed away on Friday February 26, 2021 at Beckley ARH,
Beckley, WV. He was born on February 10, 1952 in Pineville, WV; a son of the late Robert "Bob" and Mary
Mullens Lusk. Robert is a 1970 graduate of Baileysville High School. He was a talented athlete and received
a full scholarship to play basketball at Concord College. Robert still holds the record at Baileysville for the
most points scored in a game. He loved to remind people that it would have been even more if they had
the three point line during his time. As an adult, he played in an independent basketball league and won
numerous tournaments and was chosen as Tournament MVP on multiple occasions. He was also a talented
softball player, playing outfield and being the lead - off batter with Hunts Pharmacy / P. Joe's Team.
While on this team they won four World Titles, two National Titles and twenty-seven State Titles. Robert
was chosen for the All World Team on two occasions. He was a coal miner and retired after thirty-five
years. He worked most of his time with Candice Coal #2. Robert was a foreman and known for how well he
took care of and loved his men. On many occasions, he would use his love to cook to have a hot meal
waiting on his men when they finished their shift underground. Robert also loved to hunt and garden. He
took pride in his gardening skills and spent many hours outside doing what he loved. In addition to his
parents he is preceded in death by a son; Jason Todd Lusk; four sisters; Arbutus Millens, Gladys Morgan,
Pearl Steele, and Opal Warren; three brothers Coy Lusk, Albert Lusk, and Ralph Lusk; Survivors include two

Sandra Carter McMillion, 68, of Alderson, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2021 following
a hard fight with Breast Cancer. She was born on June 11, 1952 in Logan, WV a daughter of the late Grover
Cleveland Carter and Mary Ruth Bowens Carter Stewart. Sandra attended church at the Ministry Place in
Hinton, WV. She enjoyed family get togethers, reading, watching old movies, going camping and picnics as
well as sitting on the beach watching the sun set. She also enjoyed long drives to places she had never been.  
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband Arnold McMillion; a brother Grover

Perry Blackburn, Jr., 82, of Oceana, WV passed away on February 27, 2021 at his home. He was born on
January 12, 1939 in McDowell County, WV a son of the late Perry Blackburn, Sr. and Virginia Marie Bledsoe
Blackburn. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Pansy Grace Blackburn; two sons
Thomas Gene Blackburn and Anthony Ray Blackburn; four grandchildren Harold Blackburn, Cassandra J.
Haines, Jonathan D. Blackburn, and Jacob Penley; two brothers James and Larry Blackburn; and two sisters
Imogene Toler and Lettie Faye Bowen. Survivors include his loving wife of four years Shirley Blackburn;
children Eugene Blackburn of PA, Ruby Penley of Princeton, Mary Scoppers of Oceana, Aretta Payne of Green
Camp, and Paul Blackburn of Lexington, NC; brothers Gary Blackburn (Barbara Jessie) of Simon, Marvin
(Lucile) Blackburn of Long Branch, Una Stepp of Oceana, Edward Blackburn of Clear Fork, Gary Blackburn of
Simon and Darrell (Peggy Hatfield) Blackburn of Brenton; thirty-seven grandchildren; fifty-eight great
grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held

John W. Cook, 88, formerly of Cyclone, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2021 at
McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. He was born on March 26, 1932 in Logan, WV and was the son
of the late Wirt and Geneva Cook. John served in the United States Army and was a Sargent during the Korean
War.  He was honored to have served his country.  John was a cable lineman for GE Cablevision in Logan, WV
for many years before entering the coal industry.  He began as a laborer but continued his education and
became an electrician.  He worked at Harris #2 until retirement.  He also managed the Burial Fund for the
company for many years.  He so enjoyed the comradery with his co-workers and was always glad to run into
them and reminisce about their time in the mines. John was a dedicated member of the Toler Baptist Church
for most of his adult life.  He was a Deacon and actively served in this roll until his health worsened.  He used
his gifts to help construct the new church at Campus. He loved the Lord and he loved to serve alongside his
church family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Ethel Cook; a
stepmother, Mammie Cook; one brother, George “Babe” Cook; and one sister, Jean Klippa.  Those left to
cherish his memory are a son, Gary Cook of Cyclone; a daughter Kim (AJ) Cook of Florence, SC; Four
grandchildren, Daniel Cook (Jocie Cline) and Parker Cook of Cyclone; Jordan and Connor Cook of Florence, SC;
one great-granddaughter, Alanah Cook of Cyclone; a sister Ann (Bill) Parker of Beckley, WV; a very good
friend, Robert Lusk of Cyclone, and a host of other loving family and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 2:
00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Toler Baptist Church, Cyclone, WV with the Rev. Clarence Gibson and
Rev. Charlie Gibson officiating.  He will be laid to rest in Cook Cemetery, Cyclone, WV. Friends may gather with

Pamela Cline, 55, of Lynco, WV, passed away on February 28, 2021 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan,
WV. She was born on November 25, 1965 a daughter of the late Gerold and Betty Ann Belcher Cline. Pam is a
1984 graduate of Oceana High School.  Survivors include a daughter Kayla Counts of Charleston; a son Jackie
Counts of Lynco; a grandson Bentley Kyle Crouse; her loving dog Pixie; and a host of other loving family and
friends. In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated. The family is being served by the Stafford Family

Ruth Eileen Stapleton Rollins, 84, of Beckley, WV passed away on March 1, 2021 due to complications of
Covid-19. She was born on February 13, 1937 in Accoville, WV a daughter of the late George and Westie
Stapleton. She was a graduate of Man High School, class of 1954. She worked at Man Clinic and Oceana Medical
Center as a LPN. She was also an employee at Oceana Post Office for many years. She was also a member of
Delilah Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmy,
Raymond, Don, and Norman Stapleton; two sisters, Vivian Keeney and Sue Corder; three sister in laws, Joe,
Shirley, and Mary Ann Stapleton; one brother in law, Paul Keeney; and a grandson in law, Mike Dingess. Those
left to cherish her memories include Melanie (Kenny) Aliff of Oceana; Angie (Gary) Philpot of Oceana;
grandchildren, Jason (Lynette) Philpot of North Carolina, Ashley Dingess of Oceana, and Kevin Steele of
Oceana; great grandchildren, Hayden Kamits, Brock Kamits, Hunter Philpot, and Khloee Dingess of Oceana and
Seth Steele of Pineville; a brother in law, Jerry Corder of Marmet; a host of nieces and nephews; and a host of

On Monday, March 1, 2021, Micheal "Mike" Dean Smith, a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend
to so many people, went home to be with Jesus, following a short illness. Born May 1, 1958, Mike was 62 years
of age; he was the son of Betty Bailey Smith of Jesse and the late Arville Smith. Mike attended Glen Fork Grade
School as a child and then continued on to Glen Rogers High School. He played basketball for Glen Rogers
where he was part of the team that won a state championship in 1977. Mike also went on to coach girls
basketball at Glen Fork Grade School, where they won county championships two consecutive years in 1987 -
1989. Over the years Mike was always supporting and watching his kids playing sports. From basketball,
baseball, and to football, he was always there cheering his kids on. Mike was a huge Wyoming East Warriors
fan and always supported them any way he could. During deer season, you could always find Mike and his sons
together hunting. Mike enjoyed spending time with his friends; a few special friends that he really enjoyed
being with were, Greg Lambert, Kevin McMillion, Mike McMillion, and Glenn Laxton. Other things mike
enjoyed were Nascar Racing, watching westerns on TV, sports, and being with his family, especially his kids
and grandkids. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a nephew, Adam Mullens; and a very special
friend, Duke Tilley. Mike is now in Heaven where he will be waiting to be reunited with his mother; his children
Travis (Shannon) Smith of Glen Daniels, Desirea (Eric) Mullins of Glen Fork, Kyle Smith of Pineville, Roncheski
(Jason) Bailey of Oceana, and his sister Tammie Smith of Jesse. In addition to his mom, children and sister,
Mike also has eleven grandchildren who were his everything! Grayson and Kruize Smith, Paizleigh
(Paige-Papaw's Nickname) and Waylon Mullins, Zola, Zadei, Kyran, Zaya, and Zavannah Smith, and Ella and
Olivia Bailey. Mike also has one niece, Leslie Mullens and two great nieces, Mackenzie and Makyleigh Sturgill
who are left to cherish his memory. One person also left to cherish Mike's memory is the mother of his
children, Michelle Tilley, and a host of other loving family and friends. A celebration of Mike's life will be held
at 1 pm on Sunday, March 7th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Ernest
Francis, III and Rev. Jeff Green officiating. He will be laid to rest in Cook Cemetery, Jesse, WV near his dad and

Glen Johnson, 78, of Oceana, WV passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at his home. He was born on
December 19, 1942 in  Wise County, VA a son of the late Walter and Bertie Church Johnson. Glen is a United
States Army Korean War Veteran. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years Mary Rollins Johnson; a
daughter Glenna and husband Jerry McCoy, Jr. of Clear Fork; a son Charles Johnson of Beckley; three
grandchildren Megan McCoy of Virginia Beach, VA, Zackary McCoy of Princeton, and Cadon Johnson of
Beckley; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, March
9th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Jerry McCoy, Sr. officiating. He will
be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until

James Henry Daniels, 73, of Gilbert, WV passed away on February 24, 2021 in Ruby Memorial Hospital,
Morgantown, WV. He was born on April 29, 1947 in Florida. Survivors include a son Terry Daniels of
Tamcliff; a daughter Shirley JoAnn Daniels; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with his
