Georgia Evelyn Adkins Sammons, 83 of Pineville, WV passed away on Friday November 2, 2018 at Bowers
Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born on October 19, 1935 in Justice, WV a daughter of the late Taylor
and Birdie Mullens Adkins. Georgia is a member of  the Pineville United Methodist Church and bowled in
the Senior Accu Lanes League. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Wesley
Burns Sammons; a grandson Christopher Lester; and daughter-in-law Kaye Sammons. Survivors include
two daughters Judy (Cecil) Lester of Pineville and Shawnee (Bruce) Sammons of Kannapolis, NC; five sons
Larry Sammons of Skin Fork, Jerry (Judy) Sammons of Skin Fork, Terry Salmons of Ramey Addition, Eddie
(Brenda) Salmons of Key Rock and Robert Salmons of Jesse; two sisters Geraldine Reed of Columbus, OH
and Dennise Hudson of Huntington;  four grandsons; six granddaughters; fifteen great grandchildren; four
great great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at
1PM on Tuesday November 6th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV. She will be laid
to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 11AM until time

Patsy Marlene Lusk, 55 of Cyclone, WV passed away on Monday November 5, 2018 in Logan Regional
Medical Center, Logan, WV. She was born on July 31, 1963 in Man, WV a daughter of the late Shelley and
Brookie Osborne Lusk. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters Brady Osborne and
Wanda Watts. Mrs. Lusk was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Wyoming County. Patsy's favorite
hobbies were fishing, playing games and being with her family. She is a member of the Bright Prospect
Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Those left to cherish her
memory are her husband of 39 years Mickey Lusk; three children Eric (Misty) Lusk, Rocky (Mandy) Lusk all
of Lynco and Marshella (Freddie) Lester of Cyclone; two grandchildren Cayden Hagerman and Keyerra
Massey; two sisters Orpha (Don) Harvey of Cyclone and Thelma Faulkner of Oceana; a brother Earl (Leisha)
Lusk of Neola; Adam Stewart of Lynco who was a like a son to her; and a host of nieces, nephews and other
loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Friday November 9th at the Bright
Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, Cyclone with Rev. Scottie Lusk officiating. She will be laid to rest in
Browns Cemetery, Cyclone. Friends may gather with the family from Noon until time of services on Friday
November 9th at the church. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be

Roger Pettry, 74, of Ravencliff, WV went home to be with Jesus on Friday November 9, 2018 at his home.
He was born on June 17, 1944 in Charleston, WV a son of the late James and Pansy Crank Pettry. Mr. Pettry
was of the Baptist faith and worked for the DOH. He loved fishing, hunting, and working on cars. He will be
sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving
wife of 55 years Jewell Maxine "Judy" Pettry; a daughter Patricia Kay Tilley; a granddaughter Mary
Wesley; and three great grandchildren Kimberly Wesley, Jordan Sizemore and Alexis Sizemore. Those left
to mourn his loss are his daughters Sheryl Wesley (Timmy Tilley) of Jesse, Rosina Faye Workman (Randy
Adkins) of Stokesdale, NC, Geraldine Pettry who resided at home, Cathy (Bernard) Brooks of Sabine,
Thelma (Jackie) Sizemore, Pansy Pettry (Greg Fortner), Linda (Jimmy) McMillion and Melissa (Chris) Greer
all of Ravencliff; 24 grandchildren Sandy (Glenn) Pulliam, Randy (Ashley) Tilley, Michele (Morris) Hulgan,
Errt Tilley, Valeria SHumate, Dan Wesley, Drema (Jerry) Wilkey, Stephanie (Justin) Ferguson, Adam Pettry,
Romona Pettry, Preston (Breanna) Brooks, Jennifer Brooks (Jeff), Christopher Brooks (Mindy), Jackie
Ryan (Amber) Sizemore, Justin (Joni) Sizemore, Jacob (Caitlin) Sizemore, Tiffany (Justin) Mullins, Lesley
(Jared) Fullam, Kendra McMillion, Dashaun McMillion, Elijah McMillion, Chelsea Greer, Isabella Greer and
Logan Greer; a special nephew who he raised as his own, Roy Carrington; and a many great grandchildren

Janice Louise (Green) Graham, 60, of Kopperston, WV passed away on Saturday November 10, 2018 at
CAMC Memorial, Charleston, WV.  She was born on June 24, 1958 in Greenwood, WV a daughter of the late
Arlen Green and Violet Gibson Green McClanahan. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by
her step father Charles McClanahan; three brother Kenneth Green, Sr., Bobby Green and Randall Green; a
sister Truby Carper; a daughter Racheal Toler; grandson Jim "J.R." Brown, Jr.; and two great
granddaughters Neveah McMillion and Zoey Graham. Survivors include her husband of 24 years Robert
Graham; her children Joe Joe Graham, Nicky Graham, Jennifer Carper (Cheyenne Church), Wendy Cook,
Robbie (Tosha) Graham, Tonya Acord, Paulina (Darrell) Breeden, Gail Carper (Edward Ferrell), Jenny
(Carlos) Patino, Justin Carper and Josh (Sosha) Graham; brothers Jimmy Green, Alice Toler, Barbara (Joe)

Freddie Lee West, "Big Freddie", of Clear Fork, WV formerly of Coal Mountain, WV passed away on
Saturday November 10, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House of Beckley. He was born in Hanover, WV to the late
Morris and Nora (Lester) West. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Rayvone,
Hughie, Lonnie, Jerry, Stevie, Dustin and Mack West; his sisters Geneva Hatfield-West, Florene
Woodruff-West, Susie West-Laney and Patsy West-Carter.  Those left to cherish and honor his memories
and morn his passing are his two sons Freddie Lee (Devonna) West II of Kopperston and Adam Shane
(Angela) West of Clear Fork;  mother of his sons Linda Staton-West of Melbourne, FL; five loving
grandchildren that was dear to his heart Cory Lee West of Beckley, Colton Shane West of Clear Fork, Caleb
Lee West of Kopperston, Latachia Miller of Madison and Jason Scarlett of Kopperston; two great
grandchildren Caydem Lee West and Cayson Grant West of Beckley; sisters Irene West-Cline of Brenton,
Gracie (Ed) West Browning-Munroe of Davy, Dixie (Ray) West Lusk of Davy and Kathy Woodruff of Justice;
brother Gerald West of Brenton and a host of family and friends. Freddie was retired from Island Creek
Coal/Consol and enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and most of all telling stories of the

Earl John Ballard "Squirrel"  Patrick, 60, of Baileysville, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday
November 12, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 22, 1958 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late Robert
and Georgia Lee Bledsoe Patrick. Earl attended the Harvest Center Ministry's. In addition to his parents he
is preceded in death by his grandparents Ballard and Nettie Bledsoe and John and Verdia Patrick; two
sisters Ollie Patrick and Julie Toler;  and uncle Buddy Lee Patrick. Survivors include his loving wife Sondra
Lynn Wiles Payne Patrick; a daughter Whitney Danielle  (Daniel) Finney of Pineville; two sons Brandon
John (Rebeckah) Patrick of Baileysville and Joshua Keaton (Billie) Patrick of Hanover; the mother of his
children Sherry Patrick Short (Nelson) of Welch; three step sons Joseph (Jessica) Payne of Mullens,
Matthew (Krystal) Payne of Bluefield and Samuel (Stephanie) Payne of Mullens; four sisters Kathyrene
Miliam of Simon, Jean Roberts of Oceana, Helen Bishop of  Rock Mount, VA and Kay (Ted) Thompson of

Elder Lewis William Lester, 86, of Jesse , WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday November 13, 2018
at CAMC Memorial, Charleston, WV. He was born on August 13, 1932 in Baileysville, WV a son of the late
Fred Lewis and Edna Barett Lester. Lewis was a United States Korean Army Veteran and a recipient of the
Purple Heart. He was a retired bus driver for the Wyoming County Board of Education; a member of the
VFW, DAV, American Legion and the Wyoming County Honor Guard. In addition to his parents he is
preceded in death by his wife Clara Jean Sizemore Lester; and two brothers Dale Lester and John Allen
Lester. Survivors include  his children James  Earl (Sheena) Osborne of Gilbert, Ricky Gene (Kathy) Osborne
of Jesse, Tammy Victoria (Steven) Bailey of NC, Richard Lester of SC and Jeffery Dean Lester of CA; a sister
Faye Stewart and husband of Roanoke, VA; a brother Edgel Lester and wife of Biloxi, MS; and a host of

Georgia Geraldine Bailey, 72, of Kopperston, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday November
15, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born on August 26, 1946 in Simon, WV a
daughter of the late Earl and Elouise Cline Bailey. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her
husband Robert "Bobby" Blevins; infant son Larry Blevins; sister Helen "Rita" Toler; and step son Bruce
Jackson. Survivors include a daughter Melinda (Ernie) Prichard of McGraws; two sons Danny Blevins of
Oceana and Robert Blevins of Kopperston; her companion George Jackson of Crab Orchard; two step sons
Brian (Trixie) Jackson of Beckley and Kevin (Nova) Jackson of Daniels; a sister Mildred (Jackie) Morgan of
Sunhill; a brother Gene (Sherry) Bailey of Sunhill; seven grandchildren Andrea Prichard, Kayla Blevins,

Eddy Merl Bailey, 66, of Long Pole, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday November 15, 2018 at
his home. He was born on February 19, 1952 in Long Pole, WV a son of the late Willard and Lorine Bailey. In
addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Bailey; a daughter Donna Bailey; and
sister Loretta Atwell. Survivors include a daughter Dolly (Teddy) Bishop of Wilco; three sons Donald Bailey
of Moundsville, Shawn Bailey of AL and Joseph Eddy Bailey of Long Pole; step son Cody Vanover of Long
Pole; two sisters Audrey (John) Blevins of Bluefield and Dianna Rowe of Bradshaw; two brothers Willard

Sergeant Joshua Brian Francis, 41, of Glen Fork, WV passed away on Sunday November 18, 2018 at his home
from complications of heart disease. Born on August 23, 1977 in Beckley. Josh is a 1995 graduate of
Pineville High School and after working as a machinist he enlisted in the United States Army in 2001 and
was honorably discharged in 2007. While stationed primarily in Germany with the 1st infantry 18th division
he was deployed to Bosnia Kosovo region as part of NATO peace keeping forces and later saw action as a
sniper for one year in Iraq. Survivors include his wife Samantha Je Sartin Francis; his parents Vickie L.
(Charles) Feller of Mullens and Coy J. Francis, Jr. of Glen Fork; a brother Nathan (Jennifer) Francis of TX;
son Hunter Frazier of Glen Fork; daughter Julia Kessler of Germany; grandmothers Janet Pruiett and Loretta
Francis; mother and father-in-law Ila Sartin  and Neil Farley; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving
family and friends. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM on Friday November 23rd in the Chapel of Stafford

Ella Mae Mitchem, 80, of Thomasville, NC formerly of Pineville, WV passed away on Monday November 19,
2018 at Curis in Thomasville. She was born on May 4, 1938 a daughter of the late Dee and Florence Phillips
Morgan. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James Clark Mitchem; two
daughters Kathy Carver and Tina Hopson; three sisters Louis Dameron, Gladys Lemaster and Katherine
Jenkins; two brothers Demosco and Thomas Morgan; and a granddaughter Jennifer Parrish. Survivors
include five daughters Penny Justus of Pineville, Judy (Harold) Morgan of Thomasville, NC, Pamela
Blakeley of High Point, NC, Shelia (Greg) Belcher of Mullens and Kim (Ron) Scott of Thomasville; two sons
James David (Amanda) Jewell of High Point and James (Tammy) Mitchem of Thomasville; a brother Bill
(Judy) Morgan of Beckley; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; one great great grandchild;

Joseph Keith Marshall, 50, of Ravencliff, WV passed away on Saturday November 17, 2018 at his home. He
was born on February 22, 1968 in Lakeland, FL a son of Shirley Clifford Marshall and the late Glenn
Marshall. He is preceded in death by his father. In addition to his mother survivors include a daughter
Kimberlee Brown of Pineville; three sons Nick Brown, Bubba Reid and Rodney Reid; a brother Greg
Marshall of Lakeland, FL; one grandson Marshall Hull; and a host of other loving family and friends. In

Gary G. Fleenor, 66, of Oceana, WV passed away on Thursday November 22, 2018 at St. Mary's Medical
Center, Huntington, WV. He was born on September 3, 1952 in Kopperston, WV a son of the late Roy R.
and Gladys Christine Murphy Fleenor. Gary is a 1971 graduate of Oceana High School, a member of the
Jaycee's and the OHS Alumni Association.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother
Roy Fleenor, Jr.; and two sisters Cynthia "Sue" Fleenor and Linda Jean Fleenor. Survivors include two
sisters Margaret Davis of Crab Orchard and Sherry (Doug) Hill of Lynco; a brother William "Bud" (Carol)
Fleenor of Silsbee, TX; special niece and nephew Laurie (Greg) Pelphrey of Saulsville and David Sizemore of
Nitro; several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held

Phyllis Ann Young Valley, 70, of Oceana, WV passed away on Monday November 26, 2018 in Logan Regional
Medical Center.  She was born on November 17, 1948 in Pineville, WV a daughter of the late Otto Young and
Ruth Blankenship Young Oliver. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Donald
Everett "Donnie" Valley; and a son-in-law Erby Lester. Survivors include three daughters Rhonda (Marvin)
Cole of Lillydale, Donna Lester of Oceana and Melissa (Daren) Bullard of Vale, NC; five grandchildren
Autumn (Jerred) Lusk, Kaitlyn Lester, Chase Bullard, Connor Bullard and Nevaeh Cole; two great
grandchildren Caden Lusk and Peyton Lester; a sister Betty Jo (Douglas) Prichard of Oceana; and a host of

Buford Vanover, 69, of Welch Pineville Road, WV passed away on Tuesday November 27, 2018 at his
sister's home. He was born on September 8, 1949 a son of the late James and Edith Roberts Vanover. In
addition to his parents he is preceded in death  by his grandparents Evert Vanover, Cassie Steele Vanover
Wimmer, Bill Roberts and Okey Blankenship Roberts; brothers Luther and Jason Vanover; step brother
Robert Stump; and step sister Ginger Johnson French. Survivors include his sons Buford Lee
(Christina)Vanover of Welch and Tony Vanover of Roderfield; grandchildren Haley and Tony Bryan "Bam
Bam" Vanover. Jr.; step grandson Heath; brothers and sisters Hilda Lively of Wilcoe, Wilma (Alan)

Robert Henry Paynter, 52, of Accoville, WV passed away on Saturday December 1, 2018 at his home
following a long illness. He was born on June 13, 1966 in Detroit, MI a son of the late Benjamin Thomas and
Lydia Mae Robinette Paynter. Robert is a member of Joseph Baptist Church and the Man Volunteer Fire
Department. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step mother Nancy Carol Paynter; two
sisters Tara Mischele Paynter and Tangee Carol Paynter; grandparents Arnold and Martha Paynter and
Henry and Bertha Robinette. Survivors include his loving wife of 5 years Tina Clay Paynter; a step daughter
Lora Ann Cline; a step son Barry "B.J." Cline, II; three sisters Lisa Ann Paynter, Tonja Laramie and Betina

Faye Spratt Burrell, 78, of Egypt Bottom, WV passed away on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at her home. She
was born on December 3, 1940 in Sunhill, WV a daughter of the late Fred and Minnie Pearl Toler Spratt. In
addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother Rhannis Spratt; and sisters Delores
Blankenship and Betty Harvey. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years Harless Estil Burrell; a
daughter Tamara Faye Burrell of Brenton; a son Jeffrey Harless (Sherry) Burrell of Brenton; a sister Clara
(Butch) Smith of Baileysville; two grandchildren Tiffany Daniel Burrell of Oceana and Jeffrey Tyler Burrell

Ugonda "Dood" Toler Massey, 66, of Lynco, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 4,

and Amanda "Mandy" (Rocky) Lusk all of Lynco; three sisters Dianna Ellis of Oceana, Alice Hanshaw of
Fisher Bottom and Porsha Scoglietti of Brunswick, OH; three brothers Larry (Sandra) Toler of Olmsted Falls
Township, OH, Benny (Linda) Toler of Baileysville and Benjamin "Buddy" (Julie) Toler of Bedford, VA; four
grandchildren Natausha Mullins, Alyssa Mullins, Kyra Mullins and Keyerra Massey; and a host of other

Ronnie Lee "Cowboy" McMillion, 79, of Oceana, WV passed away on Monday December 10, 2018 at
Wyoming Nursing and Rehab, New Richmond, WV following a long illness. He was born on July 22, 1939 in
McGraws, the son of the late William H. Hearn and Verna Janes McMillion. Ronnie was lifelong resident of
Wyoming County and of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two
brothers Jackie McMillion and Jeffery Hearn; two sisters Virginia Smith and Bertha Smith; and a nephew
Jackie James McMillion. those left to mourn his passing are four brothers William Henry (Robin) Hearn, Jr.
of KY, William Everett Hearn of Fayette County, Scotty Hearn of Princeton and David Hearn of Accoville;
three sisters Mary Hane Gregory of Oceana, Lottie Varney and Kathy Johnson both of Beckley;

Hobert Nelson Morgan, 87 of Ararat, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Joan &
Howard Woltz Hospice Home, in Dobson, NC.  He was born in Wyoming Co. West Virginia on May 10, 1931
to the late Maloney and Arminta Morgan.  He was a retired Coal Miner and a veteran of the US Army and
of the Baptist faith. In addition, he was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Morgan, one deceased
sister, and eleven deceased brothers. Surviving are his wife, Leona Toler Morgan of the home; three
step-daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Jeffery Cline, Angela and Ted Niday, Kristia Beasley; two
sons, Gary Morgan, Richard Morgan; two step-sons and their wives, Glenn and Marilyn Whittington,
Randy and Anna Whittington; several grandchildren, Waylon Godfrey, Josh Price, Ritchie Morgan,

House, WV a son of the late Wonnie B. and Ilene Booth Fortner. James is a member of the Christ Cathedral

Donald Paul Walls, 67, of Cyclone, WV passed away Monday December 24, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House.  
Born September 3, 1951 in Cyclone, WV a son of the late William Lee and Wealtha Jane Toler Walls. Donald
is a member of the Lacoma Baptist Church, WVEA, and is a member of the Pineville Lodge 138, with 40 plus
years as a teacher for Wyoming County Board of Education. He is a graduate of Oceana High School and
Marshall University. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by two brothers Norman Gene
Walls and Billy Lee Walls; and two sisters Hazel Faye Adkins and Rema Sue Roach. Survivors include sisters
Mary Lou (Daniel) Phillips, Betty Ann (Eugene) Dean and Anita Jo (Scott) Brooks; sister-in-law Linda Sue

James Stanley Smith, 63, of Clear Fork, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2018
surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 3, 1955, the son of the late James Arthur and Blanche
Mae Lusk Smith. James was a member of the Brier Creek Tabernacle where he served as a deacon.  He was
also a member of the UMWA.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret
Stafford; and two brothers, Howard and David Smith. Immediate surviving family include his loving wife of
39 years, Debbie Trent Smith; his daughter, Candace and husband Richard Day of Dunbar; two sons, James

Haug of Chicago, IL and the late Harley Elmer Cook. Dallas was a United States Army Veteran, coal miner

Ray Toler, 89, of Reedy Creek, WV departed his earthly life on Thursday January 10, 2019 at his home. He
opened his eyes in his Heavenly home and was greeted by the one true love of his life, wife Babe, who
preceded him in death in October 2007. Born on July 26, 1929 in Simon, WV to the late Albert and Macie
Toler, he lived at Reedy Creek his entire life. Ray was also preceded in death by brothers Leland and Keith
Toler; son-in-law Elmer Goodman and step granddaughter Megan Goodman. Ray was of the Pentecostal
Faith and was a UMWA member having retired from Island Creek Coal Company after 35 years in coal
mining. On Ray's walls were proudly displayed the many trophy deer taken over the years. He enjoyed
many days of roaming and hunting the WV mountains until failing health prevented his doing what he
loved so well. This kind hearted man was loved by everyone and he will be greatly missed. Survivors
include three children Rayvon Toler (Betty), Rita Toler Goodman and Stacy Toler; three grandchildren
Brian Keith Toler, Heather Morgan (Chris), Tina Kenneda (Darrick); four great grandchildren Megan and

Johnny Bernie Daugherty, 58, of Pineville, WV passed away on Friday January 11, 2019 in Raleigh General
Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on March 2, 1960 in Welch, WV a son of the late Julian "Doc" and
Nyrmal Blankenship Daugherty. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Elvira
Scarbro; two brothers Julian "J.J" Daugherty, Jr. and Jerry "Dirty Dan" Daugherty. Survivors include a son
Johnny Bernie Daugherty, Jr. of Pineville; two sisters Jewel Robin (Jerry) Hatfield of Coal Mountain and
Geraldine Ivy Osborne of Oceana; two brothers Matthew (Candi) Daugherty of Kopperston and Joseph
Daugherty of Logan; a granddaughter Allison Diana Scarbro; special friend and caretaker Crystal Hatfield of
Oceana; and a host of other loving family and friends. In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated and a
private service will be held.  The family is being served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco,
WV.         
Lester Darrell Green, 54, of Lynco, WV passed away on Sunday January 13, 2019 in CAMC Memorial,
Charleston, WV. He was born on October 18, 1964 in Bim, WV a son of the late Arlene and Violet Gibson
Green McClanahan. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step-father Charles
McClanahan; three brothers Kenneth Green, Sr., Bobby Green and Randall Green; and two sisters Truby
Carper and Janice Graham. Survivors include three brothers Jimmy Green, Duke McClanahan and David
(Donna) McClanahan; three sisters Alice Toler, Barbara (Joe) Dempsey and Kim Green; and a host nieces,
nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday January 18th
at the Clear Fork Independent Church of God, Clear Fork, WV with Pastor Hannibal Blankenship, Jr.
officiating. He will be laid to rest in Green Cemetery, Bim, WV. Friends may gather with the family from
6-9 PM on Thursday January 17th at the church. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family is being
served by the Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV.
