Jackie D. "Jack" Short, 78, of Waldorf, Maryland passed away on August 30, 2020.  Jack was born in Clear Fork,
WV.  He was the son of the late Tommie and Adda Marie Short. Jack married his loving wife, Wilma Lee Short, in
October 1961.  They spent nearly 59 great years together.  They were blessed in raising two sons, John and
Tommy.  He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family above all else. Spending time
together brought him great joy, especially in building the “Hunting Cabin” with his sons, nephew and close
friends. He was a man with a heart of gold, especially for his family. Jack graduated from Oceana High School in
1960. He later received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration and Computer Science from the
University of Maryland, University College. As his sons were growing up, he was an active leader in their Cub
Scout troops. He was a member of the Maryland State Grange and River View Grange for over 40 years. He
served as master of ceremonies annually for the St. Mary’s County Fair Baby Show that was sponsored by the
Grange. Jack loved to play softball, and when he could no longer play, he actively attended his granddaughters’
softball games. He could also easily be found throughout the year attending his grandkids other various sports.
Jack took great pride in his garden, he looked forward to the warm weather every winter. He loved his annual
hunting trips back to West Virginia. Jack was truly a one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed by all that knew
him. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by Mary Margaret (Susie) Cook, whom he considered a
sister. Survivors include his loving wife, Wilma; his sister, Annetta Argabright; two sons, John (Ashley) and
Tommy (Elaine); 5 grandchildren, Jackie, Taylor, Jenna, John, and James; and a host of  nieces, nephews and
other loving family and friends. Graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday September 6th at the Vern &
Mary Short Family Cemetery on Elk Lick Rd, located in Clearfork, WV. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made

Roger Dale Gibson, 74, of Maben, WV, passed away on Friday August 28, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital,
Beckley, WV following a long illness. He was born on January 20, 1946 in Kopperston, WV a son of the late
Clarence Lee "Buck" and Erna Lucille Bishop Gibson. Roger attended Oceana High School, and shortly after, he
joined the United States Navy, Serving until 1967. He served on three vessels during his tenure in the Navy,
U.S.S. Boxer (CV-21), U.S.S. Oglethorpe (AKA-100), and U.S.S. Luzerne County (LST-902). Shortly after getting
out of the military, he met his wife, and they were married in 1968. Roger was a boss in the coal mines working
most of his time at Console's Itmann Mine. He loved fishing and the outdoors. He is preceded in death by his
parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Sue Blankenship Gibson; two daughters Kimberly
Michelle (Floyd) Adkins of McGraws and Erica Elaine (Lester) Frankum of Lester; three grandsons Austin Tyler
Adkins, Nicholas Tanner Adkins and Zachary Frankum; a great granddaughter Zamira Frankum; four sisters
Diana (Tim) Donathan of Christiansburg, VA, Debbie (Thomas) Toler of Rincon, GA, Betty (James "J. D.") Parris
of Glade Spring, VA, and Madonna (Rod) Burchett of Stanford, KY; a brother Donald Lee "Goldwater" (Toni)

Melba Grace Kennedy Lawrence, 77, of Long Branch, WV, was called home to be with the Lord on August 28,
2020. She was born on July1, 1943 in Simon, WV the youngest child of the late Kurt and Sara Cline Kennedy.
Melba was of the Baptist faith. She was a friendly, caring person who loved to laugh, she also loved to go
shopping. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Grover Lawrence; a son Randy
Lawrence; a special niece Eleanor Osborne; five brothers Landon, Arson, Willie, Ulin and Arlin Kennedy; four
sisters Lila Brooks, Janice "Jig" Lawrence, Elouise Conn and Betty Jo Blankenship. Those left to cherish her
memory are two special daughters Rena (Bradley) Osborne and Janet Irick (Doeroller) Lawrence who were also

Verner Dean Keene, 53, of Panther, WV passed away on Wednesday September 2, 2020 at his residence. He was
born on July 31, 1967 in Fort Wayne, IN a son of the late Verner and Elsie Alice Keene.  He was greatly loved and
will be missed. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 30 years Linda Anne
Cline Keene. Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters Shelby Keene, Tonya (Shawn) Dehne and

Gregory O. Kenneda, 63, of Pineville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday August 24, 2020 in
Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV.  He was born on February 24, 1957 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late Jason
and Velva Maynard Kenneda. Gregory attends the Apostolic House of Faith and a member of the UMWA. He
loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. In addition to his parents he is preceded in
death by three brothers Virgil, Berthel and Humphery Kenneda; and two sisters Opal Morgan and Katherine
Blankenship. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years Juanita Toler Kenneda; a son Gregory Malone

Margaret Belcher Steele, 75, of Clear Fork, WV, received her healing on Thursday September 3, 2020 at Raleigh
General Hospital, Beckley, WV following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 25,
1945 in Clear Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Virgil and Ruie Cook Belcher. In addition to her parents she was
preceded in death by her loving husband of ten years Gerald "Sam" Steele; two sisters Marie Rakes and Freda
Steele; three brothers Donald, Virgil Jr., and Ronald Belcher; a son-in-law Kenneth Barnett; and a great grandson
Anrek Shey Mullins. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Survivors include her daughter Sandra

Arlene Francis Cline Lopez, 59, of Lynco, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at
Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV following a short illness. She was born on December 11, 1960 in Cincinnati,
OH a daughter of the late Ace Cline and Irene Blankenship Cline.  Arlene was a 1979 Oceana High School
graduate. After high school, she went to cosmetology school to build a career that she loved. Arlene was an
extraordinary woman, she worked hard and loved even harder.  She was a beautician for 41 years and cared for
each one of her clients in a special way. Arlene loved more than anything to be outside, some of her favorite pass
times were taking care of her garden and flowers, watching the hummingbirds, and spending time with her
family.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters Wanda Faye Cline and Kadie Cline
Acord; and two brothers Gary Ray Cline and Norman Cline.  Survivors include her loving husband  of 26 years
Bruce Lopez; a daughter Tori Lopez (D.J. Hood); a son Jarred (Casey) Cook; and a host of other loving family and

Charles Lee Stewart, 76, of Lynco, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 18, 2020 at his home.
He was born on June 24, 1949 in Baileysville, WV a son of the late Obed Preston and Viola Allen Stewart. Charles
was a member of the UMWA, and a 1963 graduate of Baileysville High School. In addition to his parents he is

Jerry "Andy" Harold Harvey, Jr., 57, of Lynco, WV, went home to be with his savior on Thursday September 3,
2020 in the mountains that he loved. He was born on October 7, 1962 in Mullens, WV a son of the late Jerry
Harold Harvey and Wanda Toler Golden. Andy was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and a graduate of
Oceana High School. He was the owner of Harvey's Bit Service and he loved every minute he spent building his
business. He was an avid softball player in his younger days, winning many championships and tournaments. He
loved hunting, fishing, and anything to do with the mountains. He loved spending time with his family, eating
pancakes, bagels and making people laugh by telling stories and inappropriate joke. In addition to his parents he
is preceded in death by his grandparents Edith Collins Harvey and Foster Harold Harvey. He is survived by the
love of his life, his wife Gerlene Harvey; sons Mitchell Golden of Upsher County, Travis Harvey and his daughter
of Oceana and Michael Blankenship of Princeton; daughters Michelle Keneda and Aaron Keneda;  his
grandchildren Abigail Keneda, Brala Keneda, Brici Keneda, Aralyn Keneda and Kendall Golden; a brother Jessie J.

Steven Jaral Bledsoe, 38, of Brenton, WV, went home to be with his Lord on August 13, 2020 following a short

Jason Matthew Cook, 37, of Lester, WV, passed away on Saturday September 12, 2020. He was born on May 12,
1983 in Beckley, WV a son of Larry Willis (Christine) Cook of Princeton and Gloria Regina Hawley Obugene of
Lester. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Willis C. and Evelyn I. Cook, Marvin and Merle Hawley; and a

Jack Edward Cline, 84, of Clear Fork, WV, passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2020 due to injuries sustained
in an ATV accident. He was born on July 1, 1936 in Earling, WV a son of the late Alan P. and Sadie Morgan Cline.
He is a member of the NRA. Jack was known as a good man and was loved and respected. He was a hard
working man who looked out for his family. He was always on the go and there was no holding him back. He
loved fishing, hunting ginseng and just being out in nature. Jack was a man with a green thumb, he loved his
garden. He supplied his family and neighbors with a feast of home grown delight. He was a very giving soul,
always willing to lend a hand or a hand out- he never hesitated. If you needed a job, everyone knew to come see
Jack. He will always be loved, respected and remembered by all. In addition to his parents he is preceded in
death by two daughters Patsy Maynard and Phyllis Lee; three brothers Berlin Cline, Russell Wren and Daniel

Franklin Maynor Nutter, 61, of Oceana, WV, passed away on Monday September 14, 2020 surrounded by his
family at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV following a long illness. He was born on March 23, 1959 in
Mullens, WV a son of the late Dixie Nutter and Jim Maynor. Franklin enjoyed spending time and going out to eat
with his son Russell and going to family outings. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two

Barbara Jean Rowe Cline, 79, of Clear Fork, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday September 21,
2020 in CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV. She was born on August 3, 1941 in Logan, WV a daughter
of the late James and Marie Morgan Rowe. Barbara was one of the most, caring, loving, generous people on
this earth. Her smile was like a glimmer of light and her laughter warmed the heart. She lived for her family.
They were her everything, and she was loved and adored by them all. Although she suffered from illness most
of her life, she always found a positive, she never let it wear her down. A mighty fighter with strong spiritual
convictions. She looked to the Heavenly Father her strength. I know she's singing God's praises as she
reunites with her love and life partner in Heaven, surrounded by the angels and the good Lord above. She is at
Peace. We will miss her and daddy, but they are together. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death

graduate of Oceana High School, and attended Southern WV Community and Technical College. She drove a
school bus for 32 years for the Wyoming County Board of Education and is a WVSSPA PAC member. Mary was a

brother-in-laws James Smith, Teddy Wykle, Johny Lamb and Sonny Urps; three sister-in-laws Brenda Wykle,

Judy Alice Tilley Elkins, 74, of Bluefield, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 22, 2020 at
Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, WV. She was born on August 12, 1946 in Oceana, WV a daughter of
the late Roy Estil and Marion Virginia Bailey Tilley. She loved going to the beach.  She loved to sit on her porch
and watch it rain.  She loved to read a good book.  She loved her family.  She was a good daughter, a good wife,
a good mother, a good sister and a good friend.  She was a faithful member of the Bellmeade Missionary
Baptist Church of Sabine.  She was a strong lady, who faced many hardships in life, but never gave up.  And she
was loved! She is now in heaven with her son, David Elkins, her husband Jackie Lee Elkins and her Dad and Mom,
Roy and Marion Tilley. What a glorious reunion she now enjoys with these loved ones and with her beloved

Roy Lee "Big Foot" Blankenship, Sr., 67, of Skin Fork, formerly of Long Branch made his flight to glory on
Saturday October 3, 2020. He was born on March 10, 1953 in Mullens, WV a son of the late Levi and Betty Jo
Kennedy Blankenship. Roy Lee worked 16 years in the coal mines. He was a devoted and loving husband and
father. A loyal CB friend, avid coon hunter, fisherman and enjoyed spending time on New River. After 18 years
of sincere prayers he surrendered his heart to the Lord on December 25, 1996. He ministered 24 years and
touched countless lives. He was assistant Pastor of  Brenton Community Church. In addition to his parents he is

Andrew Chester Thompson, 98, of Simon, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 7, 2020
at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 13, 1922 in Coal Mountain, WV a son of the
late Walter and Maude Toler Thompson. Andrew is the founder of the Upper Room Jesus Name Church and
pastored there for many years, UMWA Local 7970 and is a United States World War II Army Veteran. In
addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Reba Kennedy Thompson and a daughter
Loraine Kennedy. Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years Carnell Harper Thompson; four daughters Dora
(Brad) Kennedy of Long Branch, Corenia Toler of Mullens, Wynetta (Jeremy) Gautier of New Richmond and
Lucille (Marvin) Blackburn of Long Branch; two sons Freddie (Rose) Thompson of Sunhill and Teddy (Kay)
Thompson of Roanoke, VA; five step children Francis (Larry) Hatfield of Coal Mountain, Ronald (Roberta)
Kenneda of Long Branch, Donald (Rose) Kenneda of Long Branch, Leda (Jimmy) Cline of Lexington, NC and
Tabatha (Richard) Blackburn of Long Branch; papaw's baby girl Paisley; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four

Adam Wayne "Todd" Belcher, 47, of Oceana, WV passed away on Tuesday October 6, 2020 at his home. He was
born on January 15, 1973 in Logan, WV a son of Geneva Cline of Oceana and the late Ronald Belcher. In addition
to his father he is preceded in death by a brother David Belcher and a sister Tabitha Belcher. In addition to his
mother survivors include Alexis Paige Belcher and Jayden Brooke Belcher both of Gilbert; two sisters Bernice
Mashburn of Oceana and Doreen Trent and husband Roy of Lillydale; a brother Dale R. Belcher of Oceana; a
grandchild due in May 2021; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral service
will be held at 2 pm on Friday October 16, 2020 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with
Rev. Todd Keneda officiating. He will be laid to rest in Kennedy Cemetery, Simon, WV. Friends may gather with

Ralph Jennings Stacy, 87, of Oceana, WV went home to be with the Lord on Friday October 9, 2020 at Raleigh
General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on April 16, 1933 a son of the late Hillard Proffitt and Nannie
Elizabeth Johnson Stacy. Ralph is a member of the Church of God in Jesus Name and the UMWA. He is preceded
in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 plus years Eunice Steele Stacy; three children
Debra  Davis and husband Gary of Roderfield, Terry Stacy and wife Teresa of Pineville and Ruth Weeks of Blaine,
ME; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends. A private
funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday October 13th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home,
Lynco, WV with Bro. Butch White and Bro. Leroy Lester officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial

Winford Cledith Workman, 93, of Matheny, WV went home to be with his Great God Jehovah on October 18,
2020 at Bower’s Hospice House, Beckley, WV. He was born on February 19, 1927 in Wyoming County, WV a son
of the late George Floyd and Susie Jane Mullens Workman. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in
World War II. He was a member of the UMWA and Matheny United Methodist Church. He loved God, country,
and family. He enjoyed spending time in Oceana putting a smile on people’s faces with his charm and jokes. In
addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Thelma Mae Linkous Workman and 12
brothers and sisters. Survivors include his daughter, Louise Francis of Matheny; three grandchildren Frankie
(Gretta) Francis, Dina (Mike) Duncan, and Mark Stewart; five great grandchildren Brandon Francis, Brandi
(Matthew) Paynter, Steven (Hannah) Duncan, Dylan Francis, and Brittany Duncan; four great great
grandchildren Alydia Duncan, Abel Paynter, Aliyah Duncan, and Gabriel Paynter; a best friend Cora Stewart; and
a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday October 23rd at the
Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, WV with Rev. Jonathan Cresong officiating. Entombment will be

Donna Marie Billings Craigo, 47, of Mullens, WV passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at CAMC
Memorial, Charleston, WV. She was born on July 17, 1973 in Mullens, WV a daughter of the late Thomas
Densmore and Nancy Lee Radford Billings. Donna is a member of the Camp Creek Primitive Baptist Church and a
1992 graduate of Mullens High School. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers Lige
Billings and Arthur Billings. Survivors include two sons Brian Jacob (Ashley) Dickens of OH and Michael Wayne
Dickens of Mullens; two sisters Cynthia (Junior) Adkins of Herndon and Juanita (Thomas Sheppard) Billings of
Matoka; a brother Thomas D. (Sherry) Billings, Jr. of Mullens; one grandchild Allison Rae Dickens; and a host of
other loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held next week at the Camp Creek Primitive Baptist
Church, Pierpoint, WV with Pastor Jerry McGrady and Pastor Teddy Billings officiating. She will be laid to rest

Anthony Wayne Stewart, 62, of Oceana, WV passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at Raleigh General
Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on June 10, 1958 in Mullens, WV a son of the late Herndon P. and Earnie
Toler Stewart. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Leann Stewart; and two brothers
Paris Stewart and Joseph Leon Stewart. Anthony is of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his loving wife Joyce
Ann Clark Stewart; a daughter Rose Mary Counts; two sons Josh Stewart and Kenneth Wray; three sisters Poly
Ann Stone, Brenda Harvey and Linda Lusk; three brothers Gary Stewart, Terry Stewart and Jimmy Stewart; nine
grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. Graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday

Arminta "Minnie" Osborne, 85, of Curtis, WV passed away on Thursday October 22, 2020 at her home. She was
born on April 14, 1935 in Boone County, WV a daughter of the late Charlie and Nora Gunnoe Osborne. Minnie
loved beads, jewelry, coloring and sitting outside on the porch. In addition to her parents she is preceded in
death by four sisters Sarah Osborne, Angeline Osborne Felty, Mary Lou "Bobbie" Osborne and Daisy Osborne
Gibson; and a brother John William Osborne. Those left to cherish her memory are a sister Fannie Hurley of
Low Gap; a brother Arthur Osborne of Curtis; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great
great nieces, great great nephews and a host of other loving family and friend. Funeral service will be held at 1
pm on Thursday October 29th at the Curtis Missionary Baptist Church, Curtis, WV with Rev. Benny Osborne

Roy Mosley, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his home.  Known to many as
“PawPaw Roy”, he was born on April 15th, 1940, in Glen Rogers, WV a  son of the late John Moseley and Violet
Stewart-Moseley. Roy served four years in the United States Marine Corps and was a Jack-of-all-trades
thereafter. He diligently tried to help others learn what he had learned and took every opportunity to pass
along the knowledge he had acquired with a lifetime of experience to all around him. Roy loved to spend time
with his family and friends throughout his entire life. Ever present in his children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren’s lives, he was a fixture around which they all drew strength. Roy is going home to reunite with
those who are in the Lord’s presence before him to include his parents John and Violet; his brothers Bill, Jack,
and Ted; and his sisters Lucille, Alice, and Dixie. Roy left a lasting impression on everyone he met in life. Among
those left to cherish the memories and experiences shared with him are his wife Marilyn Greer Mosley; his
brother Jerry Mosley and wife Barbara; children Richard (Antje), Joshua (Natalie), Thaddeaus (Sylvia), Cody
(Mary), Donald Purdue (Angela), and Shawn; grandchildren Cory, Brianna, Nicholas, Alex, Skyler Mosley Bailey
(Gabe), Hailey Mitchell (Thomas), Dakoda, Haley, Abbigail, Annalee, John, and Kenlee; great-grandchildren
Amiah Fuller, Ridlee Bailey, Octavia Mitchell; nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends to include Larry

Audrey Grace Jasper Belcher, 45, of Oceana, WV passed away on Thursday October 22, 2020 at Beckley ARH,
Beckley, WV. She was born on September 9,1975 in Mullens, WV a daughter of the late James Doyle and Naomi
Chambers Jasper. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Gary "Pee Wee" Belcher;
her companion Gregory Stafford; and several other family members. Survivors include two daughters Aundie
Nicole (Ray Belcher) Acord of Clear Fork and Mary (C. J.) Walker of Kopperston; her boyfriend Steve Bailey; a
sister Crystal Jasper (Trevor) Short of Hanover; four brothers Jamie (Amy) Jasper of Elkview, D. C. Jasper of
Princeton, Joey Jasper of Oceana and Kewal (Crystal) Jasper of Hanover; two grandchildren Lyndsey and Bentley
Walker; three nephews Tyler, Jaxon and Kayden; a niece Nevaeh; her favorite cat Oreo; and a host of other

Specialty Regency Hospital, Charleston, WV. He was born on March 19, 1951 in Gilbert, WV a son of the late
Nelline Smith Hatfield. Frenchie is a United States Army Vietnam Veteran, a member of the VFW, American
Legion and the UMWA. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his grandmother who raised him
Hulda Jane Carter; a son Frenchie Scott Ball; and a brother Billy Ray Hatfield. Survivors include his loving wife
of six years Darlene Cooke - Duty; daughters Tonya (Woody) Marcum of Chapmanville and Dawn Cobb of
Oceana; sons Josh (Amanda) Duty of Oceana, Frenchie Brian Duty of Indore, WV and Kevin Cooke of Logan; a
