Rev. Dewayne Henry Hurd, 74, of Ravencliff, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 15,
2021 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. He was born on August 11, 1946 in Bath, NY a son of the late
Leon Palmer and Florence Hillyard Hurd. Dewayne preached for 41 years and was Pastor of three churches
over the years. He is a United States Marine Corp. Veteran. He loved his family. He loved to play golf and
work in his garage. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Burdette and Frank
Hurd. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Doris Jude Hurd; two sons Eric (Amber)
Hurd of Christiana, TN and Daniel (Angie) Hurd of Blacksburg, VA; a daughter Kelly Williams of Glen
Daniel; two sisters Mary Ward of Dundee, NY and Betty Hamilton of Addison, NY; three brothers Harry
(Kathy) Hurd of Atlanta, GA Roy Hurd of Apopka, FL and Robert Hurd of Penn Yan, NY; ten grandchildren;
four great grandchildren and two on the way; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service
will be held at 1 pm on Friday February 19, 2021 at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Ravencliff, WV
with Rev. Richard Bailey officiating. He will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may gather with
the family from 11 am until time of service on Friday at the church. Pallbearers consist of family and

Lesha Caroline Lusk, 59, of Neola, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2021 at Roanoke
Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, WV surrounded by her husband and family. She was born on September 16,
1961in Man, WV a daughter of the late Sebert and Drema Osborne Lusk. Lesha's life revolved around family
and friends. Her hobbies were fishing and mowing grass on er John Deere. In addition to her parents she is
preceded in death by her first husband Jackie Watts; a son Jackie "Hobe" Watts; and a brother Ricky Lusk.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Shelley Earl Lusk; brothers Fabian (Michelle) Lusk
and Audford Lusk; a daughter Joni (Scott) Miller and her children Hobie, Daniel and Addie Miller; step
children Tonya (Donald) Morgan and her children Kelly, Crystal, Kevin, Jr. Sewill and Amber Caldwell; Jeff
(Mary) Lusk and their children Shana and Kadine "Bub" Lusk; longtime family friend who was like a sister

Diana Lynn Toler Ellis, 69, of Oceana, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2021 at St. Mary's
Medical Center, Huntington, WV. She was born on April 9, 1951 in Simon, WV a daughter of the late Naman
H. and Lenora "Nora" Trent Toler. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Ivan
Eugene "Buck" Ellis; a brother Freddie Gene Toler; sisters Delores Harvey, Cordie Toler, Othial Blankenship,
Charlotte Allen, Patricia Raleigh and Ugonda "Dood" Massey. Survivors include two step daughters Patricia
Elaine Ellis (Mike) Eubanks of Dunnellon, FL and Jennifer Lynn (Scott) Stewart of Ocala, FL; a step son Ivan
Eygene (Sharon) Ellis, Jr. of Dunnellon, FL; two sisters Alice Hanshaw of Welch Pineville Road and Porsha
Scaglietti of Brunswick, OH; three brothers Larry (Sandra) Toler of Olmsted Falls Township, OH, Benny
(Linda) Toler of Baileysville and Benjamin "Buddy" (Julie) Toler of Bedford, VA; a brother-in-law Bill Massey
of Lynco; two special nieces Mandy (Rocky) Lusk and Nora (companion Jason Sizemore) Mullins; four special
great nieces Keyerra Massey, Kyra Mullins, Alyssa Mullins and Natausha Mullins; and a host of other loving

Juanita Walls Dunigon, 79, of Simon, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2021 at her home
after suffering a prolonged illness. She was born on January 2, 1942 in Simon, WV a daughter of the late
Landon and Pansy Morgan Keneda. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, wife, sister and
aunt. She attended Longbranch Freewill Baptist Church for many years. Family will always remember her
fried chicken and ability to tell ghost stories. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her
first husband Clifford Walls; three brothers Oscar Keneda, Dwight Trent, and Gary "Gene" Trent; a sister
Geraldine Trent; a brother-in-law Ron Walls. Those left to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 40
years, Clayton Dunigon; daughter, Tammy (Arvil) Toler of Simon; grandson "her pride and joy" Thomas
Toler; stepchildren, Deidre (Eric) Stewart of NC, Tara Dunigon of Pineville, and Jeff (Angie) Dunigon of
Oceana; three sisters Kathy Walls of Simon, Donna (Lonnie) Blankenship of Saulsville, and Betty (Jerry)
King of Clear Fork; two brothers Lonzzo (Edna) Kennedy of Avondale, AZ, and Mike Trent of Clear Fork;
step grandchildren, Tyler Dunigon, Casey, Corey and Chloe Davis; two step great granddaughters, Briella
and Rosalie Dunigon; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on

and Rev. Jay Blankenship officiating. She will be laid to rest in Christian-Walls Cemetery in Reedy Creek. A

Rev. Jeffery Lewis Riffe, 60, of Mount Hope, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2021CAMC
Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV. He was born on May 20, 1960 in Pineville, WV a son of the late Junior
Lewis and Addie Paynter Riffe. Jeff attended the Grace Chapel Church and was assistant pastor for over 10
years at the Mullens Church of God. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Janet Leigh
Parsons; and a nephew Michael Parsons. Survivors include his loving wife Kimberly Jean Wyatt Riffe; a
daughter Alyiah Riffe of Kopperston; two sons Justin (Serena) Riffe of Oceana and Robert Wyatt of Beckley;
two sisters Sherri Dye of Sophia and Diana (Jennings) Talbert of Oceana; one grandchild Jase Riffe; a special
niece Tiffany Bailey of Sophia; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Graveside
service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday February 23rd at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV. Pallbearers
will be family and friends. A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at a later date at Grace Memorial Church,

Henry Jay Blankenship, 77, of Glen Rogers, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 22,
2021 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. He was born on October 29, 1943 in Glen Rogers, WV a son
of the late John Henry and Inez Elswick Blankenship. He attended the Rhema Ministries. In addition to his
parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Marie Chambers Blankenship; a great
granddaughter Katelyn Joyce Marie Rocchi; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include four
daughters Alecia (Danny) Bailey of Glen Rogers, Frances (Curtis) Lester of Wyoming, Anyeta (Charles)
Thompson of Glen Fork and Henrietta (Jimmy) Tiller of Glen Rogers; two sons Danny (Dolores)
Blankenship of Glen Rogers and Bo (Elaine) Blankenship of Mt. Vernon, IN; three sisters Maxine (James)
Lafferty, Marlene (Stanley) Tabor and Pat (Roy) Armstrong all of Glen Rogers; fifteen grandchildren;
several great grandchildren; and a host of other loving  family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1

Crystal Michelle Wells, 42, of Pineville, WV passed away on February 19, 2021 at her home. She was born on
November 19, 1978 in Madison, WV a daughter of the Donna Perdue Stewart of Keyrock and the late John
Ritchie. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her husband Kelly Wells; her grandparents
Homer and Bonnie Perdue; an aunt Joyce Stone; and a uncle Bobby Perdue, Sr. In addition to her mother
survivors include her step father Bill Stewart of Keyrock; a daughter Taylor Brooklyn Price of Keyrock; a son
Tyler Wells of NC; a sister Misty Dawn Samples of Pineville; a grandchild Ryker Wells of NC; two uncles
Homer Perdue, Jr. and James Perdue; a special aunt Kathy Jackson; and a host of other loving family and

April Dawn Stacy, 41, of Stephenson, WV passed away on February 19, 2021 at her home. She was born on
June 4, 1979 in Beckley, WV a daughter of the late James Stacy and Debbie Runyon. In addition to her
parents she is preceded in death by a brother James "Bubby" Stacy; and a sister Lisa Hildbran. Survivors
include two daughters Kayla Stacy and Hailey Stacy both of Corrine; a sister Tanya (Daniel) Blankenship of
Corrine; four grandchildren Annabell, Corbin, Brandon and Braeleigh; and a host of other loving family and
friends. In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated. The family is being served by Stafford Family

India Gertrude Whisenant, 81, of Lilly Haven, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2021,
at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, W.Va., following a lengthy illness. Her loving son was by her
side at the time of her passing, and other loved ones joined them remotely by phone because of COVID-19-
related restrictions. Born on August 15, 1939, to the Reverend Elva Brown and Delphia Bailey Brown of Lorado,
W.Va., in Logan County, she grew up in Kopperston, W.Va. After graduating from Oceana High School in 1957,
she married the love of her life, Benny Joe Whisenant, in 1958. Gertrude gave birth to their son, Michael David
Whisenant, in 1962. A treasured wife, mother, and grandmother, she devoted her life to caring for her family,
which was the accomplishment in her life of which she was proudest. Her favorite pastimes included going to
church, reading the Bible, and watching Charles Stanley’s sermons on television. She was a standing member of
Bright Prospect Baptist Church and Lilly Haven Baptist Church. She also often attended Pineville Southern
Baptist Church with her brother Horace and his wife Barbara, experiences of which she had fond memories. She
loved spending time with her family, and she was blessed to be able to enjoy 25 years of retirement with her
beloved husband, from 1989 until his death in 2015. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, and she
loved regaling them with tales from her childhood, especially her youthful adventures with her brother Horace.
She also loved being involved in her community, and she looked forward to every opportunity to talk to people
she ran into on trips to the Oceana Post Office and Goodson’s Supermarket, many of whom will fondly
remember her as a caring and spirited friend. While she never got over the loss of her beloved husband, she
was comforted in her final years by time spent talking with her neighbor and special friend, Helen Hamrick
Cook. She also took solace in her devout Faith in Jesus Christ. In her final days she often said, “I served the
Good Master above, and He will take care of me.” Her final words uttered on Earth were “Let’s go Home.” In
addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by eight siblings: Shelby, Norman, Horace,
Fannie, Lacy, Gracie, Roy, and Troy Brown. She is survived by her loving son, Michael David Whisenant, and his
wife Darva Geneva of Crab Orchard, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Caleb Brewster Whisenant of Crab Orchard, W.
Va., and Kelsey Dawn Whisenant of Beckley, W.Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be
held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 02, 2021, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, W.Va.,
with Rev. Algie Cook and Rev. James Walker officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband,
Benny Joe, in Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, W.Va. Visitation with family will be limited because of
COVID-19, but guests may arrive beginning at 4:30 PM. Caleb Whisenant, Stevie Brown, Tony Brown, John
Craft, Scottie Lusk, Rodney Hamilton, and Josh Hamilton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers
include Timothy Brown, Valdus Bailey, Philip Clark, Charlie Paynter, Bryant Whisenant, and David Whisenant.

Jerry Lee Fralin, 44, of Coal City, WV On February 23, 2021 a precious soul crossed over from this life to the
next by succumbing to heart disease. Jerry was of the Baptist faith and a 1995 graduate of Mullens High
School. He was a loving husband and father who most enjoyed spending time with his family. Special times
with Lorenzo, Quency, Eli and Noah playing PS4 and catching the NBA or NFL while cooking out on the grill
will be cherished. He was most recently employed at Cricket Wireless in Beckley. He is preceded in death by
his mother, Lorenza Kyle Green; his grandparents / adoptive parents Robert "Bob-O" Fralin, Sr. and Virginia
"Macy" Banks Fralin; two sisters Barbara Faye and Sheryl Kaye Fralin; a sister-in-law April Irene Fralin; and
two brothers Hobert "Footprint" Fralin and Robert "Buck" Fralin, Jr. Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife
Beverly of Coal City; two sons Lorenzo and Quency Fralin of Mullens; two sisters Pearl Forte of OH and
Dallas Palmer and husband Bishop Dwight of Princeton; four brothers James Fralin of Beckley, Carnell Clark
of MI and Kelvin "Chuck" Fralin and wife Kathy of Oak Hill, and Clarence Harris of OH; his natural father
James Green of Lorraine, OH. Newlyweds, Jerry and Beverly were married December 6, 2020. Stepchildren
Megan Burrell and husband Steven and their children Coalson, Casetyn and Cecilyn of Alpoca; Drew Cook
and wife Jasmine and their children Dallas and Tatum of Itmann; also Delayni and Connor Cook of Coal City
are left to mourn his passing. Jerry will also be sadly missed by , by big brothers Kelvin and James Fralin,
Elizabeth "Momma Liz" Fralin and her children, Stephanie Fralin and husband Carlos Dillard of Beckley,
Jenny Fralin of Mullens, Allison Fralin-Jones and husband Tony of Beckley and Trey Fralin and his fiancé'

Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of

Robert William Lusk, 69, of Brenton, WV passed away on Friday February 26, 2021 at Beckley ARH,
Beckley, WV. He was born on February 10, 1952 in Pineville, WV; a son of the late Robert "Bob" and Mary
Mullens Lusk. Robert is a 1970 graduate of Baileysville High School. He was a talented athlete and received
a full scholarship to play basketball at Concord College. Robert still holds the record at Baileysville for the
most points scored in a game. He loved to remind people that it would have been even more if they had
the three point line during his time. As an adult, he played in an independent basketball league and won
numerous tournaments and was chosen as Tournament MVP on multiple occasions. He was also a talented
softball player, playing outfield and being the lead - off batter with Hunts Pharmacy / P. Joe's Team.
While on this team they won four World Titles, two National Titles and twenty-seven State Titles. Robert
was chosen for the All World Team on two occasions. He was a coal miner and retired after thirty-five
years. He worked most of his time with Candice Coal #2. Robert was a foreman and known for how well he
took care of and loved his men. On many occasions, he would use his love to cook to have a hot meal
waiting on his men when they finished their shift underground. Robert also loved to hunt and garden. He
took pride in his gardening skills and spent many hours outside doing what he loved. In addition to his
parents he is preceded in death by a son; Jason Todd Lusk; four sisters; Arbutus Millens, Gladys Morgan,
Pearl Steele, and Opal Warren; three brothers Coy Lusk, Albert Lusk, and Ralph Lusk; Survivors include two
daughters; Cindy (JR) Cook of Carthage, NC and Amy Lusk of Oceana; a son Bobby (Crystal) Lusk of Sun
Hill; a sister Betty (Jimmy) Smith of Crab Orchard; two brothers; Boyd Lusk of Oceana and Dale (Sandy)
Lusk of Bolt; grandchildren; Justin (Paige) Prichard of Sophia, Katie Cook of Central, SC, Jamie Cook of
Carthage, NC, Taylor Williams of Pineville, Madison Adkins of Charleston, and Maverick Lusk of Sun Hill;
great grandsons; Jameson and Jonah Prichard of Sophia; Robert's girlfriend Missy Hatfield and her
daughter, Tessa Browning of Coal Mountain; close friends, Aaron Toler of Coal Mountain, Tommy Hatfield

Martha Margaret McClellan, 78, of Lynco, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2021 at CAMC
Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV. She was born on October 31, 1942 in Sun Hill, WV a daughter of the late
Troy Lee and Maysie Evelyn Justice Toler. Martha is a member of the Clear Fork Valley Baptist Church. In
addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years William McClellan; two brothers
Gerald Toler, and Homer Toler; three sisters Nancy "Jean" Hatfield, Sara "Kitty" Epperhart, and Dorothy
Toler; and a grandson Jeremy Kidd. Survivors include three daughters Evelyn (Ron) Kidd of Mt. Hope, Shelia
(Brad) Perry of Clear Fork, and Karen (Tony) Bean of Danbury, NC; grandchildren Jessica (Aaron) Welch, Tara
Morgan, Nathan Perry, Tiffany (Austin) Willard, and Justin Perry; her adopted grandchildren Ben Clark,
Brody Paugh, and Ashlyn Johnson; great grandchildren Ayriannah Stewart, Avery Stewart, Lee Welch, and
one due to arrive in April;  five sisters Carol (Sue) Blair, Audria Toler, Sharon (Clint) Toler, Sally (Junior)
Stewart, and Betty (Allen) Blankenship; two brothers Buck (Shirley) Toler, and Tommy (Leda) Toler; a
sister-in-law Frieda Toler Harman; a brother-in-law Ed Epperhart; and a host of other loving family and

TJ Lee Adams, 27, of Mohawk, WV passed away on February 26, 2021. He was born on August 8, 1993 in
Welch, WV a son of Angela Elizabeth Steele Adams of Long Pole and the late Terry Lee Adams. In addition
to his father he is preceded in death by a brother Elijah Walker; grandfather Roger Lee Steele; and cousins
Sherry Lynn Ball, and Chelsey Steele. In addition to his mother survivors include his companion Suzie Cline;
his grandmother Sara (George) Coleman of Bull Creek; a sister Savannah Adams of Short Pole; two brothers
Rico (Kelli) Adams of Roderfield, and Billy (Billi) Adams of Squire; nieces Addison Lockhart, Norma Adams,
Hailey Daniels, Gabriella Adams, Nevaeh Adams, and Kyra Adams; his friend Harold Coleman of Long Pole;

Sandra Carter McMillion, 68, of Alderson, WV went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2021 following
a hard fight with Breast Cancer. She was born on June 11, 1952 in Logan, WV a daughter of the late Grover
Cleveland Carter and Mary Ruth Bowens Carter Stewart. Sandra attended church at the Ministry Place in
Hinton, WV. She enjoyed family get togethers, reading, watching old movies, going camping and picnics as
well as sitting on the beach watching the sun set. She also enjoyed long drives to places she had never been.  
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband Arnold McMillion; a brother Grover
"Frankie" Carter; and her grandparents Lewis and Crattie Bowens and Cleveland and Sarah Carter. Survivors
include two daughters Annette (Scott) Rodes of Fort Spring and Jennifer McMillion of Wayside; a son Arnold

Perry Blackburn, Jr., 82, of Oceana, WV passed away on February 27, 2021 at his home. He was born on
January 12, 1939 in McDowell County, WV a son of the late Perry Blackburn, Sr. and Virginia Marie Bledsoe
Blackburn. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter Pansy Grace Blackburn; two sons
Thomas Gene Blackburn and Anthony Ray Blackburn; four grandchildren Harold Blackburn, Cassandra J.
Haines, Jonathan D. Blackburn, and Jacob Penley; two brothers James and Larry Blackburn; and two sisters
Imogene Toler and Lettie Faye Bowen. Survivors include his loving wife of four years Shirley Blackburn;

John W. Cook, 88, formerly of Cyclone, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2021 at
McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. He was born on March 26, 1932 in Logan, WV and was the son
of the late Wirt and Geneva Cook. John served in the United States Army and was a Sargent during the Korean
War.  He was honored to have served his country.  John was a cable lineman for GE Cablevision in Logan, WV
for many years before entering the coal industry.  He began as a laborer but continued his education and
became an electrician.  He worked at Harris #2 until retirement.  He also managed the Burial Fund for the
company for many years.  He so enjoyed the comradery with his co-workers and was always glad to run into
them and reminisce about their time in the mines. John was a dedicated member of the Toler Baptist Church
for most of his adult life.  He was a Deacon and actively served in this roll until his health worsened.  He used
his gifts to help construct the new church at Campus. He loved the Lord and he loved to serve alongside his
church family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Ethel Cook; a
stepmother, Mammie Cook; one brother, George “Babe” Cook; and one sister, Jean Klippa.  Those left to
cherish his memory are a son, Gary Cook of Cyclone; a daughter Kim (AJ) Cook of Florence, SC; Four
grandchildren, Daniel Cook (Jocie Cline) and Parker Cook of Cyclone; Jordan and Connor Cook of Florence, SC;

Pamela Cline, 55, of Lynco, WV, passed away on February 28, 2021 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan,
WV. She was born on November 25, 1965 a daughter of the late Gerold and Betty Ann Belcher Cline. Pam is a
1984 graduate of Oceana High School.  Survivors include a daughter Kayla Counts of Charleston; a son Jackie
Counts of Lynco; a grandson Bentley Kyle Crouse; her loving dog Pixie; and a host of other loving family and

Ruth Eileen Stapleton Rollins, 84, of Beckley, WV passed away on March 1, 2021 due to complications of
Covid-19. She was born on February 13, 1937 in Accoville, WV a daughter of the late George and Westie
Stapleton. She was a graduate of Man High School, class of 1954. She worked at Man Clinic and Oceana Medical
Center as a LPN. She was also an employee at Oceana Post Office for many years. She was also a member of
Delilah Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmy,
Raymond, Don, and Norman Stapleton; two sisters, Vivian Keeney and Sue Corder; three sister in laws, Joe,
Shirley, and Mary Ann Stapleton; one brother in law, Paul Keeney; and a grandson in law, Mike Dingess. Those
left to cherish her memories include Melanie (Kenny) Aliff of Oceana; Angie (Gary) Philpot of Oceana;

On Monday, March 1, 2021, Micheal "Mike" Dean Smith, a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend
to so many people, went home to be with Jesus, following a short illness. Born May 1, 1958, Mike was 62 years
of age; he was the son of Betty Bailey Smith of Jesse and the late Arville Smith. Mike attended Glen Fork Grade
School as a child and then continued on to Glen Rogers High School. He played basketball for Glen Rogers
where he was part of the team that won a state championship in 1977. Mike also went on to coach girls
basketball at Glen Fork Grade School, where they won county championships two consecutive years in 1987 -
1989. Over the years Mike was always supporting and watching his kids playing sports. From basketball,
baseball, and to football, he was always there cheering his kids on. Mike was a huge Wyoming East Warriors
fan and always supported them any way he could. During deer season, you could always find Mike and his sons
together hunting. Mike enjoyed spending time with his friends; a few special friends that he really enjoyed
being with were, Greg Lambert, Kevin McMillion, Mike McMillion, and Glenn Laxton. Other things mike
enjoyed were Nascar Racing, watching westerns on TV, sports, and being with his family, especially his kids
and grandkids. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a nephew, Adam Mullens; and a very special
friend, Duke Tilley. Mike is now in Heaven where he will be waiting to be reunited with his mother; his children
Travis (Shannon) Smith of Glen Daniels, Desirea (Eric) Mullins of Glen Fork, Kyle Smith of Pineville, Roncheski
(Jason) Bailey of Oceana, and his sister Tammie Smith of Jesse. In addition to his mom, children and sister,
Mike also has eleven grandchildren who were his everything! Grayson and Kruize Smith, Paizleigh
(Paige-Papaw's Nickname) and Waylon Mullins, Zola, Zadei, Kyran, Zaya, and Zavannah Smith, and Ella and
Olivia Bailey. Mike also has one niece, Leslie Mullens and two great nieces, Mackenzie and Makyleigh Sturgill
who are left to cherish his memory. One person also left to cherish Mike's memory is the mother of his
children, Michelle Tilley, and a host of other loving family and friends. A celebration of Mike's life will be held

Glen Johnson, 78, of Oceana, WV passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at his home. He was born on
December 19, 1942 in  Wise County, VA a son of the late Walter and Bertie Church Johnson. Glen is a United
States Army Korean War Veteran. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years Mary Rollins Johnson; a
daughter Glenna and husband Jerry McCoy, Jr. of Clear Fork; a son Charles Johnson of Beckley; three

James Henry Daniels, 73, of Gilbert, WV passed away on February 24, 2021 in Ruby Memorial Hospital,
Morgantown, WV. He was born on April 29, 1947 in Florida. Survivors include a son Terry Daniels of

John Hanshaw, 71, of Skin Fork, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2021 at his home. He was born on
September 9, 1949 in Coal Mountain, WV a son of the late Eula and Allie Mae Hatfield Hanshaw. John is a
retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA and the Apostolic House of Faith. He loved being on the farm,
having his family and friends around, and spending time with his little dog, Remmi. In addition to his parents
he is preceded in death by three brothers Wilburn, Onnie and Terri Hanshaw; and a sister Paulene Toler.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years Glenna  "Gloria" Kennedy Hanshaw; two daughters Stephanie

Donald Dean Bailey, Sr., 96, of Sabine, WV on March 10, 2021 peacefully at his home left his earthly body to
receive his Heavenly body and reward and now is with his Lord and Savior and reunited with the love of his life,
his beloved wife Bessie Mae Woodard Bailey with 55 years of marriage. He was born on August 4, 1924 in Glen
Fork, WV a son of the late Terry Ross and Alice Brown Bailey. He is a graduate of Milam High School, but before
he could receive his diploma he was drafted into the United States Army to serve his country in WWII. He served
as a glider man and was in the 17th Airborne Division. He received a purple heart at the Battle of the Buldge. He
worked at Kopperston #2 mines for 38 years as a belt foreman. Donald was a devout Christian and a member of
the Church of God. A Godly man who loved Jesus with everything in him, a family man that loved his wife,
children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All who knew him could see the love of Jesus shining thru him.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three sisters Marion Bailey Tilley, Mavis Bailey Snuffer, and

Reginald "Reggie" Sizemore, 70, of Dublin, VA formerly of Pineville, WV traded in the hunting grounds and
fishing holes here on earth for his eternal home in Heaven on March 10, 2021 after a boating accident. Reggie
took his last breath doing what he loved, out in the sunshine casting a line fishing. Born and raised in
McGraws, WV. He was the son of the late, Denver Jack and Sadie Maraschillo Sizemore. Reggie was a United
States Vietnam Army Veteran, retired from the U.S. Steel Pinnacle Mines and attended The River of Life
Church in Dublin, VA. Reggie was known for his love for hunting and being in the woods, fishing anywhere
possible, working outside, his beautiful flowers, as well as his smile and love for helping others. In addition to
his parent he is preceded in death by two brothers Arnold Sizemore, and Billy Jack Sizemore; a nephew BJ

a true friend. If he loved you, there was no boundaries or borders. If he enjoyed conversations with you, they
never ended. He found enjoyment working on anything to do with technology. He loved his music and binge
watching movies. Anything but horror movies that is. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Thomson
Georgia. His life devoted scripture was: "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own
understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and he shall make your paths straight". Proverbs 3: 5-7 The family

for not just meeting his medical needs but bringing him joy and happiness during the harder days of his life. He

Hayden Christopher Spearing, 28, of Bradley, WV passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at his home. He was
born on February 6, 1993 in Beckley, WV a son of Travis James Spearing of Mt. Hope and Audrey Lynette (Robert
Neal Newman, II) Spearing of Bradley. Our precious little hero lost his battle with Type I diabetes after a lifetime
of suffering. Hayden was the toughest and strongest person there was, but his little body could no longer endure
the pain. He eased away at his home with his mom, Nellie, in Bradley while his mommy, mom and brother held
him in their arms. Hayden and his mom Nellie Scarbro were always connected at the heart. That bond will never
be broken even by death. Hayden touched the lives of every person he ever came in contact with. No one could
believe that a person so young could go through what he did with such a positive attitude. He had such a sweet
heart with what he dealt with each and every day. He is preceded in death by his two grandfathers Eddie Scarbro
and Thomas Mark Spearing; and a uncle Eddie Scarbro, Jr. In addition to his parents survivors include a brother
Tyler James Spearing; his two grandmothers Nellie Scarbro of Bradley and Lavana (Larry) Thomson of Dawson;a
step sister Jada Newman; step grandmother Sandra Scarbro of Clear Creek; two aunts Amy Louise Scarbro of
Charleston and Jessica Spearing of Beckley; two uncles Charles Adam (Emily) Scarbro of Fairdale, and Christopher

Betty Jean Lester, 76, of Oceana, WV passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Raleigh General Hospital,
Beckley, WV. She was born on April 13, 1944 in Wyoming County, WV a daughter of the late Linsey Charles
and Verda Mitchell Belcher. Betty attended the Lynco Community Church. In addition to her parents she is
preceded in death by a sister Pauline. Survivors include a daughter Leah (Sherman) Blankenship of Mt. Airy,
NC; a son Danny (Patricia) Lester of Mullens; five grandchildren Jessica (Zach) Edward, Kayla (Heath)
Wilburn, Tyler (Abigail) Lester, Cody Lester and Jayden Lester; four great grandchildren Aubrey Lester,
Kabrey Edward, Liam Edwards, and Ridge Wilburn; three sisters Helen, Linda, and Darlene; four brothers

Tre'Shaun "Bubby" Brown, 7, of Beckley, WV left this world to play with the angels in God's
playground, on Thursday, March 18, 2021. He was born on July 22, 2013 in Beckley, WV a son of Felicia
Brown of Beckley. He is preceded in death by his great grandparents Deana Pettry, Jamie "Jim" Brown
and Lou Brown. Tre'Shaun loved giving really tight hugs, jumping on the trampoline, running, and
spinning around in circles. He loved for his mommy to rub his arms and head very softly and to be
tickled. He loved eating pizza and watching Bo on the Go, Inside Out and Super Why! on YouTube. In
addition to his mother survivors include a sister Ki'onna Thompson; a brother Tay'von Sawyers; his
grandmother Tina Ahrens; his grandfather Jerry Brown; a great grandfather Arthur Pettry; uncles and
aunts Tasha Ahrens, Cody Brown, Nicole Coffey, Ryan Tilley, and Ashley Cook; a great aunt Jessica

Norma Jean Ackison Lambert Brown, 82, of Oceana, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday March
26, 2021 at her home with those she loved most by her side. Norma was born November 26, 1938 at
Accoville, WV, a daughter of the late Homer and Ruby Bryant Ackison. She was also preceded in
death by husbands Donald "Dunk" Lambert and John Brown; a brother Remus Ackison; and two
sisters Willa Zornes and Patty Davis. Norma was a secretary at Man Junior High School and the
Logan County Board of Education, where she retired. She was an officer of The Old Man High School
Association for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hats and was an avid bowler, and
loved Class Reunions and her classmates of 1957. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law
Patti and Perry Cook of Oceana; two grandsons Nick and wife Ashley Cook of Oceana and Ben and
wife Sunny Cook of Mooresville, NC; three great grandchildren Lindsey, Hudson and Taylor Cook; a
brother Larry (Barbara) Ackison of Virginia Beach, VA; a special sister-in-law Dolores Ackison of
Man; a brother-in-law Oscar Davis of Destin, FL; a special nephew Tim Davis of Lafayette, LA; and a
host of other nieces, nephews and loving family and friends. Norma's family would like to thank

Kevin Patrick Roach, 67, of Oceana, WV, passed away on Saturday March 27, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House,
Beckley, WV after suffering from a stroke. He was born on September 6, 1953 in Oceana, WV a son of the late
Philip and Edna Hornbarger Roach. Kevin was a 1971 graduate of Oceana High School and a 1976 graduate of
Bluefield State College where he played on the golf team at both schools. He was a lifelong member of the
Oceana United Methodist Church. Kevin was an avid golfer, and a member of the Clear Fork Valley Golf Course
since the age of twelve. He was a fan of Westside High School and West Virginia University. Kevin loved
gardening and loved to share with his neighbors and friends. He retired from Black Hawk, LLD, December
2019. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Philip Shannon Roach, and Ronald
Roach; father-in-law James Daniel; three sister-in-laws Gerry Shannon, Martha Roach, and Rema Roach; and
two nephews Michael, and Christopher Roach. Survivors include his loving wife Betty Sue Daniel Roach; a son
Brett (Nicole) Daniel of Beckley; a daughter Ashlee Cinnamon (Jason) Blankenship of Laurel Branch; six
grandchildren that he adored  Nate Sams, Josh Perry, Gabrielle Daniel, Luke Blankenship Wyatt Blankenship,
and Maggie Blankenship; two brothers Robert Roach of Mooresville, NC, and John Roach of Oceana; a sister
Kim (Ray) Farmer of Beckley; mother-in-law Lucille Daniel of Iaeger; a brother-in-law Mark Daniel of Hurley,
VA; two sister-in-laws Lois Roach of Rhodesville, VA, and Lisa Matney of Archdale, NC; special friends Larry

sisters Lala Hastings, Wilma (Jack) Bailey, Joan Wyatt, and Norma Cline; brothers Milton Cline, Amos
Cline, and Donald Cline; a nephew Phillip Stafford, Jr.; mother and father-in-law Charlotte and Carl

Rosie Pearl Toler Perry, 95, of Cyclone, WV, finished her race and crossed the finish line on Saturday, April 3,
2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Rosie was born on January 22, 1926 at Toney Fork, WV to the late
Wilson and Adora Toler. Rosie was a member of Toler Missionary Baptist Church of Cyclone where she was
president of Ladies Aide and at the time of her passing, she was the eldest member of the church.  In addition
to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Hayes Perry;  four sons Orville (Mary) Perry, Sherwood
(Edra) Perry, Bill (Bobbie) Perry and Von Perry;  her son-in-laws Jack Miller, Marvin Walls and David
Spaulding; grandchildren Gary Miller, Jackie Miller, Denise Walls and Micah Short. Those left to cherish her
memory and legacy are her children Betty Miller of Cleveland, OH, Judy Walls of Tallahassee, FL, James (Rita)

Homer A. Hatfield, Jr., 57, of Lynco, WV, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Logan Regional Medical
Center, Logan, WV. He was born on March 6, 1964 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late  Kathleen Geneva and Homer
A. Hatfield, Sr. Homer was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and making fishing
lures. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents Sophia and Charlie Uphold; and a
brother-in-law Sonny Walker. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years Deidra Hatfield; two daughters
Heather (Garrett) Prichard of Oceana, and Brittany (Kendall Walls) Hatfield of Rock House; two sisters Pam

General Hospital, Beckley, WV. He was born on July 5, 1936 in McGraws, WV a son of the late Alfred and
Goldie Lusk Tilley. James is a member of the Bellemeade Baptist Church and the UMWA. In addition to his
parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Tilley; a sister Betty Elizabeth Sinecoff; a brother
Curtis Tilley;  his step children Patricia Tilley, Carol Domi, and Sandra Sullivan. Survivors include his loving
wife of 10 years Loretta Ritchie Tilley; step children Kelly Cozort of Glen Fork, Kathy Tilley of Ravencliff, Kathy
Miller of Georgia, and Billy Irick of Ravencliff; three sisters Ruby Byars of McGraws, Margaret Stewart of
